I intend to use part of it for a turned sample, and the remainder for Montblanc NA to use as they see fit.

Thanks Fred. Will you post photos of the turned sample when complete?

I hope to have a turnable rod of celluloid very soon. :-)

If not very soon, at least soon. The word is, the green striated celluloid is still curing. I saw another piece of the grey striated on Saturday, when Niksch joined me to examine rods and large slabs of the many different colors and patterns of celluloid and hard rubber already made.

Maybe we should go with the platinum instead. Ouch!

I'll take one of each, please!

Fred,

When you say "platinum" do you mean the grey/silver striated celluloid used in the 1950s 146 or the original MB PL celluloid of 1930s? Photos of the stock would be great, if possible.

Mark-

It resembled very, very closely the 1930s PL celluloid. It was fantastic.

Eric,

Would love to see some photos (I know I have asked this before). Not sure how others feel that placed an order for the green striated 146 but if it is as close a match as you say, I for one would swap to the replica of the PL celluloid in a heart beat. Mind you, I do have one of the original 50s green striated 146s so the pull for me is not quite as great as it may be for others.

I for one would prefer the green, but either color would be fantastic and would consider getting one in each color, perhaps one with a F and one with a M nib.

Here is a photo of my grey striated vintage 642 if it helps! I was looking forward to the green - but if we have the grey, then I have the start of a collection!! :bunny01:

I would definitely be interested in the grey striated if this is a possibility (I just noticed that most of my pens are black or grey :))

Hi Chris,

Based on Niksch's clarification, the celluloid in question is more likely to be similar to that shown in the attached photos of my MB 126 (photos courtesy of FPN member Bryant):

Niksch or FredRydr may want to confirm as they have seen the actual stock under discussion.

Like I said, 1930s PL celluloid. Yes Mark, just like this. It was fabulous.

Very nice and I'll still be there - but what I REALLY hope for is the green!
