Minneapolis Pen Posse April 11th

I can't believe I'm going to have to bow out of this, but I am. I've been under the weather lately (nothing serious), so I'm going to spare you all the soundtrack of my coughing jags. I was looking forward to seeing you again and to Robb's sister's offices. And also to hear you all ooh and aah over the sweetly smooth lines drawn by my new Aurora 88 with a Binderized fine nib. But that will all have to wait until next time, at least for me. I hope you have a great day.

Thank you everyone! What a pleasure to get together in person and share our love of fountain pens. You all are just the best and I had a wonderful time. It is a thrill to have the opportunity to handle so many exciting pens. In particular, I appreciate all the Wahls people brought — far more beautiful than I’d imagined. I’m still reveling in the good vibes from seeing and handling all these beauties. The “wet noodle” was crazy! (Yes, I only managed to make squished spider blobs with that nib… but what an experience to find out how crazy fun that nib would be if one could handle that much flex…)

There were 10 of us, I think — a respectable posse. Those of you who weren’t able to make it to this one: I’m sure there is no end to the magic and the enthusiasm, so there will be more gatherings in the future. Many thanks to you, Robb, and your sister Lynn, for hosting this pen posse. The creative and vintage flair of Lynn’s office provided atmosphere, and her generosity and warmth in welcoming us is most appreciated!

Thanks to all for coming. It is so pleasant to be surrounded by some now-familiar faces, and some new ones. Yes, thanks to big sister Lynn for having the party at her place! http://www.visi.com/~lschulte/

Lynn spoke very highly of the group and was impressed by the intesity of the interest of the group in the subject.

Thanks to Rena for organizing the thread to get this meeting planned and for the flex nib meeting topic. Also for offering the best leaky pen story.

My Waterman was behaving but the Wahl Flexible seems to need to be tamed a bit.

My favorite pen of the meeting was Robert's new blue Vacuumatic beautifully restored by Phil M.

I had so many things I was going to ask, and the time went too quickly and some questions are still to be asked. I can't wait for the next meeting.

To those who missed the meeting, we missed you there, and hope you can make the next one.

Cheers,

Robb
