Minneapolis Pen Posse April 11th

...

Hope to see you all soon!

Rena,

I am a member of the other Twin Cities pen club and would like to attend this open house.

Rob Swenson attended a few of our monthly meetings and told me about this event.

I'll bring some stuff for show and tell and I am always up for a minor pub crawl <g>.

Cheers,

-frank

Looking forward to meeting you, Frank. Yes, please bring stuff for show and tell!!

I took Rena's advice... seemed really good and since I can't be in the cities in April she suggested I buy another pen and so wanting an Esterbrook, I bought two. One that I have wanted for a while a Blue J and also a Red SJ both from very helpful FPN members, Brian and Steve. THANKS for helping me to see priorities and enjoy

Dunno if anyone is keeping track, by my friend, Sue, and I are planning to be there April 11th.

Spose I should give some thought to what pens I'd like to bring...

See y'all then/there.

Gerda, So glad I could help! I love Esties — good choice!! Kris & Sue, looking forward to seeing you again!

Okay, everyone, taking a hint from Pen Posse Nihonmachi (I just had a great time reading the through the thread after they met), I'm thinking it only adds to the fun if we can accommodate desires to see certain pen models.

I really enjoyed seeing Robert's Waterman's 52 in Red Ripple last time. Robert— I thought I'd bring mine this time so you can see and handle another one and note the differences.

I have a great interest in flexy nibs, Wahl pens in particular. Last time someone (wpblaw?) had a Wahl Doric — the only Wahl pen I've ever seen in real life. If anyone has other Wahl pens with flexy nibs, I would love to see them!

I'm in Duluth, and would perhaps be interested in a ride share. Any Northern Minnesotans out there? Its too bad we can't get Kevin out here to see the initial stages of the Danitrio Fellowship pen.

Bad news all, unexpected costs as far as my daily transportation are going to completely cripple my ability to come down (not to mention do almost /anything/ else until the end of April.) :crybaby: Have a ton of fun and send good vibes my way.

I don't own any Wahl pens with flex nibs at the moment, but I do have a couple of others with absolutely wicked flex. I can bring those instead. Any other requests??

I like themes and Flex Nibs seems like a fun theme, or sub-theme, for the next round-up!

I had the Doric along at the last meeting. I do have a couple more Wahl and Waterman flex nibs that I could bring along, if you'd like? This would be a nice time to bring them out, as day to day they seem too... frilly. Great fun to use, I agree. I have a second Burma Doric that, unfortunately, is in the process of having a come-apart. I should pass it along to an expert to stop it's descent. I have a Waterman flex on it's way home from Aaron at pentiques at this moment.

Should we do an imformal head count? Count me in!

I'll be there, but it looks like I will have to leave right after the meeting. I would have loved to check out that pizza joint, but I now have an event to photograph that evening. I have to be back here in Willmar sooner than I was hoping.

I don't have too many pens with flex nibs, but the ones I do have are really awesome!

Hi

As I said earlier in this thread, I won't be able to make it this time In the future I would be interested in sharing rides. I am in Grand Marais. Keep this idea in mind for the future. Got snow there today??? Ha Ha

Sorry, Cylvre! For sure will send good vibes your way! Hope you have a Happy Birthday!!

Oh Robb, now I remember — that was your Doric. Yes, It would be great if you could bring more Wahls and flex nibs, and don't forget your Bexley Magnum Poseidon.

Sheila, yes please, bring any awesome pens you have!

I am moving that day. As in, loading a truck and moving all of my stuff from one house to another.

I will not able to get away.

Lisa shot me a heads up on this MSP meeting from another post and I put it on the calendar. I'll bring a few fun pens along and (since they sound like in demand for this get-together) will also see what I can dig up along the lines of unusual Eversharp/Wahl pens or any with flex nibs. Look forward to meeting you all! --Chris

Yay — glad Lisa sent you our way, Chris. Fun pens are a requisite!! :) I'll bring my Danitrio (a humble yet worthy one), since I see that you, like me, fantasize about the Danitrio Fellowship.

Jmkeuing, hope next time works!!!

Looking for advice from fellow Minneapolitans...I'm not sure if this is the proper forum, but I wanted to ask people I've actually met in person and this was the most direct way I could think of to pose the question.

There is a listing in the FPN sales forum for a Pelikan 625 Silver and Blue for a pretty good price. I think it's a beautiful pen, and I can easily afford this one with some "found money". But it's more money than I'm comfortable sending to someone that I don't know anything about. My experience purchasing new and used pens from individuals is mostly with eBay, where I'm fairly comfortable trusting someone who has earned 100+ positive feedbacks and has a high percentage of positive ratings - plus I've had many many happy transactions. I pay thru paypal with my Visa on eBay because I feel safer going thru Visa than directly against my checking account. I had a good experience the one or two times I had to go to Visa to dispute a bad transaction with a store. But I'm not sure how Visa would react if I wanted to dispute a person-to-person transaction for an item that isn't necessarily new.

Here's the URL for the listing.

https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...howtopic=102153

I'd appreciate any thoughts or suggestions you have about how to decide whether or not this could be an okay seller, or offer any tips to help protect myself from a really bad deal and to increase my chances of making a safer more successful transaction.

Thanks!

Kris

Sigh...I won't be able to make it after all. I've been really looking forward to it, and Kyle was even coming along. (He was excited, too!) Neither of us is happy about missing it, but I have no choice. I hope you all have fun!! :crybaby:

Oh no, I am so sorry you are not going to be there. I hope there will be more gatherings and more opportunities. I'll have to beg some time with some one else's Optima! Cheers, Robb
