Pen repairers/restorers in Australia?

Chazzozz

Recommended Posts

Is anyone able to recommend a pen repairer or restorer in Australia? International postage is a bit hefty and the exchange rate is not terribly good, so sending pens overseas to get fixed is not the best option at the moment. I'd much prefer to find someone who's really good and really local. :)

I write, therefore I...write a little more.

I'm wondering the same thing.

the Pen Shoppe in Brisbane does repairs and i think nib grinding, according to an email they sent me. They have been good to deal with as far as buying goes. Haven't got around to sending them a pen yet. site is: www.pensdeluxe.com

http://www.vintagepens.com.au/repair.htm seems like a good place, too.

It seems the major pen shops in Australia do offer a service. Hopefully someone can tell us the good ones.

I'm aware of the Brissie Pen Shoppe locations, but I wasn't aware they did repairs, too. I'll have to check them out.

Thanks for the link to Melbourne Vintage Pens, that's the sort of place I'm looking for. But, if I only need to head down The Range to Brisbane then that's a bit easier for me.

...so, I just spoke to the Pen Shoppe, and guess who they send most of their more-involved pen repairs to? Melbourne Vintage Pens!

I can see an email coming on real fast...

I am in Adelaide...

All the Aussies:

I've never sent any pens out to OZ for repair, too far. BUT, I have had multiple dealings with Peter Ford at Melbourne Vintage Pens. Bought lots of his work, ie pens he's restored. His work is FANTASTIC, equivalent to the big name restorers

you read about on FPN. He is IMHO, the Binder, Zorn, Fudge of Australia. Give him your business you'll be happy, mates.

The usualy disclaimers apply. No association, just an estatic client of Peters, Jim

Peter's reputation is first class and I also commend him as a restorer.

But another option is Pen City in Melbourne. John (owner) worked for many years at Tafts before starting his own business. He is an excellent repairer and has outstanding knowledge on all things pens. You can contact him through their website or call in. Tell him Peter from 3AW sent you and he will look after you extra well.

FWIW, I've already sent an email to Peter at Melbourne Vintage Pens. I'll wait and see what he's got to say, first, before checking other options. Thanks for everyone's advice.

Hi I am in adelaide also and always send my pens to a guy in USA called Thomas Macgregor at 169 COBURN ST, WARWICK, RI02889 USA. I can vouch for his services as I have had lots of pens repaired by him, the cost of postage is always very affordable his charges for repairs are great. His email address is macshack27@yahoo.com tell him Bryan gave you his details
