MB Hemingway vs MB Dumas

I got a Delta Oro with a stub simply because getting a Dumas with anything above a B is difficult and too time consuming. But it's apples and oranges. The MB nibs are far superior to the Delta in feel and flow. But this is a body type and size I prefer. If you like these, try the Ancora Neptune. Those long tines will give MB nibs a run for their money and the bodies are a similar thickness and post securely.

I have a Dumas, and although some others may be worth more, I consider it the most prized pen in my entire collection. But what I would give to have a Hemi as well...... :notworthy1:

Thanks goodguy, excellent review!

.........and just a few days after my last post, I found a Hemi!!! In the month that I have had it, I now fully understand why it is such a popular pen, and worth it's cost. It speaks for itself. I can't watch it enough, it is beautiful. I've had the Dumas for many years, and still love it, but at the moment the Hemi leads by 0.00005 points... I'm not prepared to choose between them, though. Too tough.

Using both of mine side by side.........but my heart belongs to Hemi!!! :cloud9: Dumas is wonderful too - but maybe it is the different tips of the nibs........maybe? The Hemi has a delicious EF stub by Oxonion.........the Dumas has a medium CI by Mike - both amazing in their own way - however, Hemi inches forward!!! :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

Each day is the start of the rest of your life!

Make it count!!!

Great comparison. Personally, I would have given the nib contest to the Dumas, but just because I find it one of the most beautiful nib designs.

With the help of one of the best seller of the world I bought again an Hemi, for me the best one but I also love the Christie and the Wilde.

The Dumas, did not touch my heart since now.

Your nice review opened my eyes a little bit more about that strange (for me) pen...

The shape is similar, very similar to the Hemi but too much Louis XIV for me...

Don't know, I must think about it!!!

Thanks so much!

To me, the Dumas worst point is its gelded metallic cap lip. I dislike metallic cap lips. In my mind, they are reserved for the cheap pens. So kind of a cheap feature on a wealthy fountain pen is a fault from MB.

Time has gone since this thread. Nowadays there is another possibility. Golden Dragon limited edition is as well inspired bu the L 139. Swap the over-heavy dragon clip for a Hemi one and you have a full modern glossy blanck L 139. If Montblanc has some Hemi clips available, of course. But Brad Torelli or your next door jewler can make one for you, for sure.

And you can keep the Golden Dragon clip for display cabinet time, of course !

Cheers to all and many thanks to Goodguy for the mouthwatering thread !

So many thanks indeed to all the collectors who show and share here their jewels with us poor guys who cannot afford these true beauties !
