Stipula Italic Nibs

Was the 1.1 the one on the Ti nib (that I now have)? If so, the Ti italic nibs have generally been quite different in line width and character from their 14k and 18k equivalents. The larger Ti nibs' round profiles are the same as the 14k and 18k (generally speaking), but the italics are more different. The earlier (small) Ti nibs were more like Japanese sizing than western.

Are Stipula italic nibs tipped or untipped?

Tipped except for the titanium ones, which are self-tipped.

Thanks Deirdre. Self-tipped titanium nibs, that's a new concept for me. Very interesting. I tried a Model T with a Fine? nib a month ago in Paradise Pen in Houston. It flexed weirdly and was a little scratchy.

Does anyone know how those wear compared to untipped steel nibs?

 

I recall reading that it is jolly hard to make the tipping material adhere to titantium and that the Parker T1 had trouble with the tipping breaking off. Presumably they leave the more recent titanium nibs untipped because of that.

Titanium's not really tippable.
