Pilot Celemo

Had some time on my hands and still on a cloud from finding my long lost Phileas, so I decided to do a hand written review of my new Pilot Celemo. The review is mostly about the Celemo but I did do a small comparison to my Yellow Pilot VP. A India Black "51" is thrown in for size comparison and also because I just like it ;-) OK, my scans and photos are not the best, but getting better. May need one of those high speed tents ;-)

Hey Ranger, thanks for submitting a review on the Celemo--not many of them around yet. Would you be able to increase the resolution of your hand written review? I'm finding it difficult to read (or maybe my eyesight is catching up to this aging body!). :)

I will give it a shot. In the interim I was able to read it more clearly by incresing the size of my window in Internet Explorer by clicking on the magnifying glass in the bottom right corner and increasing the screen size to 125% and then 150%. Shows up much better than the normal setting of 100%.

Let me see what I can do with the scan resolution.

Cheers,

Tony

Can't get the scan any larger, sorry about that. Try adjusting the zoom on your computer. When I zoom to 125% or better it's very clear.

Cheers,

I was able to zoom in, but the lettering becomes blurred... I have a hi-resolution LCD flat panel monitor that supports 1080p and 1440x900. Maybe you can try scanning again but use a higher scan resolution, if you have some time. Or include the text of the review within a posting. :)

Pilot Celemo

-- Side by side comparison with the Vanishing Point.

-- First Impressions: A fountain pen with a 14ct gold nib for under $50 USD, begs to be given a shot.

-- Background - I am a sucker for a good pen with an Extra fine nib. I have had very good luck with Pilot and decided to give this one a shot.

-- Overall Design - Very nice black and gold trim. Flat top cap - nice slender profile.

-- Size and Weight - taller than a VP when Posted and just slightly shorter than a P51. About 5 1/2 inches or 14 cm. Of course it's lighter than a VP and feels like a "51" with the cap removed.

-- Nib - 14ct yellow gold. Fine Point, soft and springy. Provides some line variation. Writes like an XF (.5m) on the Binder Stroke Width Chart.

-- Filling Mechanism -- cartridge converter. Came with one Pilot Black cartridge.

-- Fit and Finish -- well put together, zero defects. A fine job by Pilot.

-- Value - Outstanding - a Brand new Pen delivered to my door for less than $50 USD with a 14ct nib. Writes as well as pens costing 2 to 3 times as much if not more!!!

-- Summary - a keeper! Fits my nib Point Profile. Another well executed Pilot.

Break --- Break --- Break

No need to go into great detail about the VP, mine is Yellow and wonderful. 18ct nib in Fine -

also Performing like an XF. I appreciate the weight and balance. I prefer it over the Celemo because of the heft. But the Celemo will be in the Rotation when I want the Pilot quality in the Stealth mode.

OK, here is a type-written copy of my hand-written review.

Enjoy,

Tony
