Rollerball alternatives - the Uniball 207

they are sadly sourced in some of the worst bodies, even by inexpensive multi pack standards.

These seem like standard G2ish refills, so does anyone have a suggestion of a decent $10 - $20ish body that one of these will fit in?

A pen a day keeps the doctor away...

Unfortunately, I don't think the Uniball Signo 207 refills are the same as the G2. I've tried to fit them in my Waterman Hemisphere roller but they didn't work. There are some fancier-bodied "executive" Signos that you can get through some of the big box office chains, but for $7 or so they still may be poorly built.

Although they are sold through Newell-Rubbermade in the US, I think Uniball is really part of Mitsubishi in Japan, hence no compatibility with their sister Parker or Waterman products.

Hi, I just checked and confirmed that the Signo pen refills will fit in Rotring rollerball bodies, but not a Sheaffer rollerball.

If they fit in the Rotrings, they'll probably fit in other rollerball bodies as well.

All Waterman RBs accept G2-style gel refills (but I don't know if that's what the Uniball takes). You may be able to pick up a Waterman Kultur RB for $17.00 on EBay.

As of 2015 my experience is that Sheaffer 300 and VFM rollerball takes Uniball signo 207 refills very well without any modification or any hack. Sheaffer 100 does not take uniball.

Pilot MR / Metropolitan rollers take Uniball 207 very well without any modifications.

Parker IM rollers also take uniball 207 but with hack- spring in front & stub in back. Parkers also well takes UM 100 refill - but one will have to somewhat cut the plastic end. For that matter these Parkers can also be used with Jetstream refills.

That is interesting. I do use Pilot MR FP and MP. I have steered clear from the RB because I dont like Pilot G2 that much, using Lamy RB instead. I will definitely look into that 207/MR combo. Maybe just for my next acquisition.

hmm old thread but Uni-ball has since rectified by chucking out Jetstream prime however I'm not yet certain if the prime has a different section shape that is specific to the Jetstream because I once tried to put in the 207 refill into the Jetstream RT (sports) body it fits... I may have to acquire that one and just check it out hopefully it fits

PS: Uniball isnt also really part of Mitsubishi heavy industries (cars and ship building) its under a very different company Mitsubishi pen co founded by a different person not related to the company that makes cars, and Newell-Rubbermaid imports them as far as I know doesnt really own the company

though why people think it is so because both companies use the same Mitsubishi logo EN trans (3 diamonds)
