Bought an early 1950s MB 146 with 'M' nib some time ago with the knowledge that it hadn't seen any ink. After gazing for a final time at that pristine ink window, I took a deep breath and filled the pen with Mystery Black this morning. Love the weight (heavy) of the pen compared to its modern equivalent. Seems to have taken in a lot of ink and as such, this vintage 146 is likely to remain in rotation for about a couple of weeks.

Pavoni.

I have just put a cartridge into my brand new 'Tribute to the Mont Blanc' white/platinum fountain pen with F nib. Still fighting with it as it is skipping on the down strokes when I am writing.

You can't have too many fountain pens.....

Congrats.

Have you flushed it before use?

And FP's with cartridgea need some time to have a good flow through the feeder/nib.

Maybe let it rest upside down for a day?

I had the same problem with my starwalker, but now it writes fluently.

NICE!

The 72 is a remarkably nice little pen. Perfect for pocket carrying as opposed to the bulk of the other MBs I have. Highly recommended for anyone that likes a pen in the pocket without the bulk.

You have cheered me up - I didn't flush it because my husband bought me a Princess Grace F nib FP and it wrote straight away, very well, so I did the same with this one. I will take the cartridge out and flush through and then keep on with it.

Obviously I was too keen!

Really nice gifts unfortunately (or luckily) my wife doesn't write with FP's. :roflmho:

What I have done after flushing is put back the cartridge in it and store it upside down for a day.

Hope it works!

Today. Schiller FP F nib, used it today for the first time. It has been sitting in my cupboard since 29 March this year. Beautiful pen.

I did exactly what you suggested - flushed and let it rest upside down and all seems good with it this morning. Many thanks

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time
