Something a little different... not that I don't have more pictures of the MB 149 or MB 146.

Many thanks to Bryant for this wonderful example of a juicy, wet, broad MontBlanc 18k nib. Stubbed by Mike into a smooth stub with nice line variation. Almost like painting as the ink flows onto the page with shading and character.

MontBlanc Dumas, 1996. Inked with Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo.

Absolutely beautiful pen... the dark lustrous brown resin contrasting with the marbled, mother of pearl resin reminiscient of the beaches and cliffs of Monte Cristo.

okay... perhaps I used a bit of poetic licence... and desk was a bit cluttered, hence the photography.

In storage: MB 149 (18k EF), TWSBI 540 (B), ST Dupont Olympio XL (EF), MB Dumas (B stub), Waterman Preface (ST), Edison Pearl (0.5mm CI), Noodler's Ahab clear, Pilot VP (M), Danitrio Densho (F), Aurora Optima (F), Lamy 2000 (F), Visconti Homo Sapiens (stub)

Carlos: That is one awesome looking roller... Always loved that line...

149 B running through the last of a fill of Asa Gao (Iroshizuku)

Paired with siblings from Cartier - Louis Cartier black ribbed with PT: fine FP and BP with Monteverde super soft broad refill...

I bought my Nicolai I last Friday when I was looking for a ballpoint. Things got complicated for me when they aligned the Ramses (FP and RB), the Nikolai I (FP and RB) and a rolled gold LeGrand RB in front of me. I needed a BP but... long story short I got this one for about USD 215. I was tempted to get the LeGrand RB (for USD 390), but it is a little bombastic for using it in a business meeting. I'm starting to love that jewelry store with lots on NOS Montblancs.

I'm still looking for a BP though.:gaah:

Today I am using my vintage MB 146 OB filled with a burgundy color mixed from Herbin Bleu Azur, 1670 and a bit of Café des Îles for getting a nice brown shade :cloud9:

I write with a 146 black resin with gold trim. Currently it's at Montblancs repair center for a nib exchange for a fine nib. I bought this pen 3 years ago and I remembered I had my eyes on the 149 but the lady insisted me to buy the 146 because the 149 would be too big for my hands. I thought it was strange that the sales lady didn't want me to buy a more expensive pen but she was right in the end.

Thanks

Brad

Thanks Blade Runner ! I got that pen from a nice german gentleman on eBay

Along with the 146 I received a Pelikan 400, all packed in a nice vintage pen case that came as a bonus :cloud9: I'm also waiting for an 144G OBB and another 246G M from the same seller. I'm not very fond about bidding on vintage stuff from eBay, but my experience with that guy has been very pleasant. As usual no association, just a happy recurring bidder :)

The finest of non-FP writing instruments:

The 146 sized roller, PT, with a medium blue MB refill - it is a very nice refill holder... Yes, it does kill me how much it cost - but, on the other hand, it is very well made, fits my hand well, and is perfect to provide to those who would make V's out of an FP nib.

Oh, and +1 to Raul for the photo and that great looking pen... Almost makes me want to get a few vintage MB's!

A juicy fine point 146 with platinum trim filled with Sailor Kiwa Guro black ink...

Of course, it is paired with a GT 144 ballpoint for those who try to nail the paper to the desk top...

And, the red Holiday MB ink in a Sailor demonstrator...
