MB 149, purchased used ffrom CFP in 2010 with a F nib. Writing style has grown toward broader nibs, and so I just swapped the F nib for a used O3B signature nib, 18K. Pen arrived back today, just in time for #fountainpenday.

~ For correcting student homework, a 149 90th anniversary EF with Corn Poppy Red ink.

For a few notes, a 146 90th anniversary B with Royal Blue ink.

Both writing with effortless ink flow, a luxury which never cloys.

I just received my MB 146 after nib work by Mike Masuyama - MikeItWork. This pen has been sitting in my pen case for more than 15 years - it wrote too broad for me and always skipped. I thought it was hopeless.

Now ground to XF and with perfect flow it is the finest pen I own. I can't stop using it today! Midnight Blue MB ink. Thanks Mike!

Using my Starwalker Urban Speed, fine nib, Waterman Black cartridge.

Historical Note: some are put off by the black pen with red stripe BUT remember - one of the original pens from this company was the "rouge et noir" - red and black, red cap and black barrel. Red and black, JUST LIKE THE URBAN SPEED!

I am using the following MB"s; 128G, gray 322 and green 324. The 128 and 324 are inked with Waterman Blue Black, and the 322 is inked with Iroshizuku kosumosu. Acquired all 3 at the Ohio Pen Show.

At work: Urban Speed ballpoint, rugged and low key, with a Monteverde broad black soft roll refill.

At home: Trusty 146 with extra fine (and extra smooth) nib by Mike, and Montblanc Midnight blue.

I like the look of the Urban Speed ballpoint. Is it light like the "Midnight Black" or heavier like the "Black Mystery"?

Definitely heavier than Midnight Black. The gripping section is metal, and the pen balances at the junction of the gripping section and barrel. I find it well balanced and comfortable to use.

I am not a big fan of the Mont Blanc ballpoint refills, however. I prefer the Monteverde soft roll refills or Zebra F series refills, which fit perfectly with a small spacer at the end.

Using the same pen and ink for past couple of months: Montblanc Meisterstuck 12 grey OBB nib with Sulekha Crystal Violet ink.

None, I got some DIamine Shimmertastic ink, and do not want to put it in any of my piston fillers, or pens with expensive nibs, so I am trying it in a Parsons Essential from Mr Pen, with a convertor. So far no problems after two days.

Last night it was a 254 M nib with Parker Black Quink.

Today it's a later 149 with a F nib and MB Black.
