Montecristo, I'd love to see a writing sample with that nib you described on the Carnegie, or at the very least a nib shot. It sounds like it would be fun to use.

lemanfan, nic picture, and a nice set up you have. My photo below is with my humble iPhone - I'd love to have a Nikon set up like yours!

Damn & blast !!! Following major cleaning and flushing session all MB pens were in the hardwood display/storage box over the past few days. Arrived eleswhere this morning opened pen case out of man bag pen ......case empty !!! :headsmack: Hence a MB less day today  Ah well abscence/ lack of use/ makes the pen urge stronger .

I feel for you. It only occasionally happens to me (maybe 1 or 2 times a year) but I hate it when I forget to take my pens to work. The thought of having to use a Bic Biro depresses me. For these days you end up trying to write as little as possible - and definitely avoid writing in your best work pad (currently a Web Notebook for me).

Luckily I have my pens with me today. I've got MB Burgundy ink in my 147 (filled via a syringe) and my Poe with Mystery Black ink.

My Collection: Montblanc Writers Edition: Hemingway, Christie, Wilde, Voltaire, Dumas, Dostoevsky, Poe, Proust, Schiller, Dickens, Fitzgerald (set), Verne, Kafka, Cervantes, Woolf, Faulkner, Shaw, Mann, Twain, Collodi, Swift, Balzac, Defoe, Tolstoy, Shakespeare, Saint-Exupery, Homer & Kipling. Montblanc Einstein (3,000) FP. Montblanc Heritage 1912 Resin FP. Montblanc Starwalker Resin: FP/BP/MP. Montblanc Traveller FP.

Here you go (sorry for the lousy iPhone pics, don't have a good camera with me at present):

Inked my Cervantes this afternoon. For the first time in a very lo g time. I'd forgotten just how good this pen feels in the hand. It's filled with Toffee Brown ink.

I'm using a 1970s 146, 14k B nib, with MBRG; and a 1990s 149, 18k OB nib, with Organics Studio Manganate V. The 149 is on loan from a friend and I'm really liking the OB nib. The 146 I used all morning taking notes in meetings. Great pens, these Montblancs!

That's not really a surprise. I love my OB, but you know that already. Which one of those two do you prefer?

Hi Peter, I really like the OB, but my favorite of the MBs I own or have used is a 149 with a 1960s 18C BBB nib. Eric Niksch put the pen together for me using a nib that he had retipped by Greg Minuskin. I don't have the pen at the moment, as it is with a fellow FPNer in Florida on "summer vacation." I've shown this picture on a couple of other threads, and I certainly don't want to stray too far off topic, but here is the BBB nib:

And a very poor photo of a writing sample I had done previously:
