What! you haven't got the new Safari pink? Shame on you. Suppose the pink is a bit girly but if you are collecting the whole family then why not. Love the Savanna. This is probably the only one I haven't got. Must try harder.

I do have the pink. It's on the second page. The shots on the first page were made before the pink was released. What I miss is the Terracotta and the new Purple Al Star.

Ciao,

What a great collection, and nice photos too.

How many of the safaris are limited edition and could you tell me when each colour was released? I thought they released one a year but I have seen both orange and pink advertised as LEs for 2009. :hmm1:

At the moment I have 1 Al-star and one Safari, but I love the look of the french blue with the red clip, so might have to start expanding soon.

I had to take a shot of my Al-Stars now that the new purple showed up. The new one is my favorite and my daughter's too... she ran off with it not long after it came in the door.

Beautiful photo Woody. My daughter just love the raspberry one. She just insisted to buy one for my birthday earlier this year. (so now I have two... :) )

You may want to take a look to this thread in the history forum: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=22180

Excellent info on available colors and years of issue.

Btw the blue/red is from 2006.

Cheers,

Just a small but (to me) annoying design fault. On some models (see Blue and lime in previous photos) there is a thin sliver of section that shows through the ink window which completely ruins the pens symmetry. This is more prevalent on later models. Maybe I'm being picky.

My favorite colors are the yellow (currently loaded with brown ink) and white (empty, but I'm imagining a bold turquoise or red ink).

Brilliant photo!

I like how they are positioned, and the color arrangement.

I will try that style soon.. I'm still missing the dark violet and blue.

I love the many ways those pens can be shot!

Richard, your photo is nice too: they looks like some minimalist sofà you can find in trendy bars!

Just tighten the section slightly and this will disappear.

Too many pens; too many inks. But at least I've emptied two ink bottles now.

Sorry but I'm tightening the section to normal tolerances - I refuse to overtighten as this will likely damage the section. I have had my problem acknowledged by an online seller who has stated they will speak to the Lamy rep when next in town. I have thirteeen safaris and 4 have this problem - Blue/red clip, new green, black(not noticeable because of low contrast) and a vista (also not noticeable because of low contrast). A very disappointing design fault, I say yet again. To be fair I love my safaris and the charcoal 1.1 italic with noodlers Burgundy is sublime.

I have a ~ complete Safari/ Al-Star/ Joy collection,... save the blue/yellow clip, Swedish version. I consider that a custom job. I think there is also a firm in the US selling second generation Safari "flame" pens...or so I'm told. Lamy.de .... will do a production run of a minimum...100 pens/ or is it 200...don't quote me on this , please....whatever that comes to in their currency. My girlfriend mixes and matches the caps, sections and barrels, and nibs to reflect her daily outfit. Professionally, she's a clotheshorse (model), and photographer. It also keeps her really happy ....as a new scribbler. To date, our ink drawer has some 50+ bottles of assorted colors from 11+ different manufacturers. It's just one of the many ways to demonstrate my support & significant other-ness.

FYI... I've been told that "NOS"...new old stock =...is generally when the instrument in question has been built , like Frankenstein ( except that he was made from used/dead body parts), from parts that are correct, or should be, for that model pen. Rarely are these pens complete when they are found & subsequently sequestered in captivity....only to be sold , after some replacement/ fixing... of some part(s) that is( are) in better condition, to the target audiences....at a higher price point. Often, I've been informed, they show some shop wear, and or have been ultrasonically cleaned, or/and polished to look as if it has never seen ink. Psssssst...not always the case. You need to do your homework to determine if the vendor's pen is all it's cracked up to be. I like the moniker "factory complete" for those pens. Mint..is that an edible? Fact, factory pristine pens are very rare in the wild...and probably already in vendor's/ client's collections...never to see light of day or ink....unless traded or sold to other wizards. The general public hardly ever sees the most choice items. These are the real "vintage" pens. New pens are not for me at these shows. I only go to these things to have a repair/ refurbishment done on site by my favorite restorer.

What gives me the chills is when you go to those pen "shows", and there is the... pre-show, closed to the public thing..., the swap/sell/trade/buy....whatever these vendors/ collectors, who pay for the tables... do ...before the public can see the " for sale to general public instruments". At the last show,... as I tried to engage a vendor to make a purchase, he continued to exit the room, his wares in tow, just after his final transaction was completed with one of his fellow wizards. He clearly had absolutely no interest in selling to the general public. FYEd, he did not return to the show for the remaining show dates.

Thanks for this. Picking my first Safari or Al-Star, and this is going to help with the color choice. I'm going with either a pink or yellow safari. The limited edition label doesn't sway me in any one way, but I like how unique the color is on both.

Wonderful pics, everyone. I'm currently searching for the pink for a small lady. The photographic skills of the members are impressive!

Best pens under $100 GWs! The nibs can be changed to any width... easily...once you get the hang of using adhesive tape, they R colorful desk ornaments, and the crash test dummies for all my new inks ( just to see what's... what),... except BSB, known to induce palpitations in unsuspecting humanoids.....BSB is such a beautiful blue temptation...if you have a med cardioverter... handy....lol.

Hi,

WTP....please...

Where can I purchase, find, or otherwise obtain the Lamy Safari, ... ( Swedish) blue with yellow clip version?

Is it just a regular issue blue pen with yellow painted clip/ similar to black clips on other pens...or a totally new dark blue shade/color... with that bright yellow clip?
