REVIEW: Montblanc 100 Years Historical Fountain Pen

QM2

Recommended Posts

Hi there

Such an interesting review of a very nice pen. I love the vintage ones as well, especially teh safety fillers that are quire rare :crybaby: nnd sometimes very expensive.....

By the way you wrote that the nib is 18 k. How is it written on the nib itself? 18 K or 18 Kt? Or 18 ct?

If anyone has a safety filler for sale or a simplo, let me know!

Tx

Have a nice evening.

Hi,

on the nib it is written:

750 18kt

exactly with that spacing and lack of capitalization.

This is at the very base of the nib, almost buried in the section, which is why it is not clearly visible on the nib photo in the review.

I just purchased one of these pens used but in good condition. As my first Montblanc I must say I am very impressed. The nib is wonderful and has a little bit of flex. The lines are sexy and the big snowflake is cool (dangit!). Now if I could just find a Kafka I could go back to rolling my eyes at every business man trying to look wealthy with a Montblanc ball point in his pocket.

I love this nib. Did Mont Blanc make any other nibs with the snowcap as the breather hole?

Not as far as I know, at least not modern ones.

very good review thanks for sharing

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

i've been using and enjoying one for the past few weeks. it looks tiny beside the 149 and the agatha (below), but it fills a niche--it's the only cartridge-carrying pen among my daily users, so i take it where i can't get close to a bottle of ink.

Thanks and I do still come by, though mostly to eavesdrop.

I believe the pen reviewed here was my last MB purchase; none of their more recent offerings have inspired me and I doubt ever will given the direction their designs seem to be going in. But this pen... my gosh, it is just right. Well, aside from the cartridge-filler, but we can't have everything!

It arrived today. Your review helped me find an amazing pen. Thank you!!!

Great review of a great pen.

Thank you for posting it. I hope that you're enjoying using it, several years later.

What?! Matt, you also own a 100 Year Anniversary Safety Pen?

I didn't know that.

Not gonna lie, a cartridge-only safety pen is... stupid as hell.

This looks gimmicky and dumb. I love safety pens, and this is more of an insult to the design than anything else.

Selling a boatload of restored, fairly rare, vintage Japanese gold nib pens, click here to see (more added as I finish restoring them)

Too right. I absolutely loathed this pen. One of the few Ive ever sold.

Too many pens; too little writing.
