Has anyone tried the M150?

Barney, I have one old style, sorry I can not post a pic (have no camera nor a cell phone with a camera), but it is 2 mm larger than the new style,

Hope helps,

Julio

I see. So there is a slight difference in size between the old and the new m150. If I am decided to get an m150, this would be my first pelikan pen with a steel nib (I use an m400 green striped for two years now) and will choose a Broad.

Thanks

I just purchased one a few weeks ago and really like it. This is my first Pelikan. It was $60 about $20 less than a M200. I like the smaller size because it makes it easier to stuff in a pocket and when posted, the lenght is fine.

I'll join the praising of M150. It's a bargain and one of my favourite writers.

I'll put it this way, I got rid of a 400 not long ago that I wasn't 100% satisfied with and still have my 150.

What was the problem with the (M?)400, if I may ask?

The nib was just not as good as the ones on my 150 or 215. As I had bought it used, no warranty, so I sent it to a new home to someone who likes fussing with nibs!

Reading through this thread leaves me very excited. I had ordered it last month but apparently it was sold out. I just got word today that my M150 is on the way and I should get it by tomorrow lunch.

I have an "old" M150 (from when they had black barrels, and colored caps, fill-knobs, and hilts), black-and-charcoal, with what appears to be an M200 M nib (it does not appear to be any smaller than the nibs in my M200s).

My only complaint about it is that for reasons I've never been able to fathom, the cap tends to spontaneously unscrew somewhat more frequently than my M150s (a bad thing, given that it's filled with a black ink that has to be bleached out of my shirt!)

That's my problem with my Pelikan (M400) the cap unscrew spontaneously. Therefore, I never put it in my shirt pocket and I'm planning to get a two or one pen case.

I have what I think is a M150 and I like it although I must admit I like the bigger birds far better-M600 and M800's. But it fits into the loop on several of my agendas and folios so it's nice to be able to carry a fountain pen rather than a ball pen.

My questions to the FPNers out there is this. My M150 seems to have a backwards color scheme from others mentioned in this topic. Mine is darker plain green and black, but the piston knob and the cap are green and the sleeve is black. The words on the ring are Pelikan and Germany. The clip, center ring, and piston ring are gold. The cap has the shape of the current Soverans with the logo stamped in gold. What do I have? Any help is appreciated.

I am choosing which one to buy between an M150 or M200 with a broad nib. I know that the M200 is identical with the M400's and they both share the same nib sizes.

Has anyone tried the M150? Is it really small?

The M150 is not that much smaller than an M200. If money is not an issue I would say go with the M200. If you want to get extra nibs for your M200, you can actually use M150 nibs (steel only); they are a bit smaller but not distractingly so. Also they are dirt cheap!

Hmm...

I've had a couple 150s, but i never used them. I gave one to my brother, and he gave it back to me. I never used my 200, either. Neither one said "write with me."

How about changing the M150 nibs with an M4's or M200 nibs, will it fit?

You can put an M150 nib onto an M400 or M200. You can physically screw the M200/400's nib into the M150 but the cap won't go on all the way, or will graze the tines.

I never thought the M150 was that small; it didn't *feel* much smaller than the M200/400. If you are someone who thinks the M800 is just right or a big small the M150 will seem tiny; but it's not all *that* far off from most full-sized (M400, Vacumatic Std, Esterbrook J) pens.

DD, I have the same pen. It doesn't seem many of them made it over to the US. Don't know why that is, but I love the little beast.

I just received the M150 the other day. It looked rather small in the box and felt very light when I brought it out of the box. Its not the smallest pen that I have but smaller than my Sailor 1911M. A very convenient size for carrying around all day. In spite of the size, I love the way it writes and how I can easily control my writing. I would probably use it daily and maybe graduate to the next level eventually. Its a very handy pen and very simple.

I've got a couple of m150s - one is older (1980ish). Both on the small size - but I find them a nice pen to write with.

The m150 is one pen that I find works well with the cap 'posted' - along with the Reform 1745 (too small for me if I don't post).

Hey, I've worked out how to set up an avatar! Next week I'll move onto tying my own shoelaces...
