Does anyone own a Mozart?

My 149 says it wants a mini me. :) They are very cute.

How do you like yours? For those that usually write with larger pens, do you find it comfortable?

Do you need to post?

Is it a cartridge only? Or do they come with a convertor?

Does it also come in Platinum trim?

Best,

Jeen

I have a Mozart. I like it. I usually use a larger pen, but for me, it is also comfortable to write with the Mozart. I have to post when I write. It takes one cartridge at a time.

Jeen,

I just bought one at the KofP boutique on Sunday, and they sent it to their service center in Bethlehem or Texas to install a B nib (which I'll have ground into a stub). I really do not need this pen, but when it was placed in my hand, I just wanted it. It only takes a cartridge.

I've just bought one on ebay and it should arrive in the morning! I'm really excited as I've wanted one for a while - it comes in a set with the ball point so very useful. I am hoping to get the motzart notebook for my birthday to make a nice handbag set.

I'm not sure of the nib on this one until it arrives. I really like Om or OB nibs so may have it remodelled depending on what it is. I gather they generally come in M unless changed. Will let you know what it is like when it arrives. I do think they are cute!

I bought one recently. I really like it (but I am quite new to fountain pens). I got it for those occasions when a bigger pen just won't easily fit in my shirt pocket - I seem to have a lot of shirts with small pockets.

It came with an M nib which is very smooth. I find I am using it a lot on my travels. It is so small it just wouldn't work without posting for me. My other pens are Pelikan M600, Sailor Pro Gear and I just got a Visconti Van Gogh mini that arrived this morning. I'm getting hooked...

Really excited as new pen has arrived.

I bought it off ebay as a set - a Mozart ballpoint and a Mozart Fountain pen in a Boheme 2 pen case. The ball point is cute beyond belief - a real winner for the odd note! The fountain pen is also gorgeous. It looks like my 149 had a baby!

Anyway, it came in a very dirty condition - it had an empty cartridge in it which had obviously sat there for ages and slightly leaked inside the pen. I did a very quick dip test and it writes beautifully - I'm 99.9% sure it's a medium nib which is great for me. I've set it all to soak in some warm water and I plan to leave the nib in there overnight as there seems to be some 'clumps' of ink coming out rather than just a stream of wet ink.

Now I'm going to save up and have a Mozart notebook for my birthday - the one you can store your pen in as well!

I ordered a Bantam mini convertor for my Greta Garbo and sent for two as it was the same postage as for one! I'm wondering if one of those might just fit in this pen - the mini convertor looks to be almost the exact size as a cartridge and if that is the case it will work. I'm a big fan of ink over cartridges as it seems to offer more variety and it's a lot cheaper. Anyway, it's not the end of the world if it doesn't fit!

Jeen,

If your 149 wants a "mini me" have you considered a vintage 144 from the 1950s. You get a piston filler in celluloid, a great nib and a vintage pen to boot. You can pick up some good examples in excellent condition from reputable sellers on eBay. Another advantage is that the gold filled trim on these MBs stand up to use very well and usually have little to no brassing.

I traded a Namiki Falcon for a Mozart several months back. Yes, it is smaller than I prefer, but it fits perfectly in the elastic loop of my little leather portfolio I carry around the hospital. The M nib has some line variation too.

How are the Mozart bp refills?

The one I borrowed briefly wrote quite well in blue.

I have the original three piece set of Mozarts, FP, BP, Pencil all in a little case built especially for them. I got them back in the mid ninties and have really enjoyed using them. The Ball Point takes one of those mini style refills used in 3-1 and 4-1 pens. I don't care for them as I have never been able to find the refills in a med. point and don't care for the fine. But I love using the FP and the pencil. The case is so easy to carry, you can slip it into a pants pocket or a bag and away you go ready for whatever comes your way. BTW mine are burgandy.

Did you try MB's refill shop online for the bp refillis?

Have to say I would love the little pencil to make up my set. I have the fountain pen and ball point and am hoping for the notebook for my birthday.

Shame about the refills - they only come on one ball width and only in black and blue. I much prefer a medium or broad refill. I suppose they base it on what they sell the most of.

I have the Mozart #250/250. A very beautiful pen, but a bit overpriced!

Oops. After reading the post I understood that you asked about another MB Mozart.

Which converter did you get for the Mozart? The small Bantum I got from the US for my Greta Garbo won't fit the Mozart as the metal bit at the bottom is too wide. I'd be very keen to get a converter for my Mozart.

So would I. This would make it an ideal pen for me as I don't like cartridges that much. There isn't an awful lot of room in there for a converter.

  • 1 month later...

Has anyone had flow issues from the Mozarts? I had one recently but it was a bit dry for my taste. (I prefer a 6 of 10 on the "Binder scale")

Also looking for a platinum trim with a F nib and matching notebook if anyone has one to sell. Thanks.
