Decent pen shop in Edinburgh

Hello all,

Going to Edinburgh for a few days this week, and wondered if there were any pen shops worth visiting. Would prefer to avoid 'the' pen shop as one branch tried to sell me a pen that was rotten inside.

Thanks for any replies,

David

I would be interested in knowing too David, the only pen shop I have found is the usual one which had nothing much of interest.

By the way there is an Italian Cafe on Elm Row in Edinburgh which has been voted the best in the UK.

So, are we saying that apart from one or two predictable and boring chains, there is nowhere worth visiting for pens in this great city?

I used to live near glasgow a few years ago and I know there is a quite good pen shop in princes square shopping center on Buchanan street, a short walk from queen street station where the Edinburgh trains arrive at! I got my Chopin from them in 2002 and they had quite a good selection, I think it is called the pen shop! I believe it is a chain. I do not recall any in Edinburgh apart from some jewellers on George street that had Cartier, MB and Dunhill I think, but it has been a few years since I was in Edinburgh, Oh, Jenners on princess street is high end, they may have something?

All the best.

Ian

i got one of my holy grails--a parker vacumatic oversize in burgundy--at the thistle pen shop on one of the streets parallel to princes street. but this was some time ago, in the mid-90s. i suggest you check the phonebook, because that's where and how i found them.

Check out my blog and my pens

I think that this was called the Edinburgh Pen Shop - not to be confused with the Pen Shop in Edinburgh.

The Edinburgh Pen Shop has since closed down
