To Engrave or not to Engrave?

Engraving adds sentimental value, but decreases monetary value. My friends bought me a Sheaffer Prelude for my birthday that they had my name ... However, I would not engrave my signature on a pen where I felt it hurt the aesthetics (No offense to Bryan at the Edison Pen Company, but I feel that his brand engravings do exactly this). ....

Why, sometimes I'd like to take a switchblade and a peppermint and a Cadillac and throw it all in a fire.

Once again it seems you don't understand my humor. The statement is rather ironic or don't you see that.

Maybe you have me blocked for PMs as well but I've sent you a request.

I was merely wondering why the post from Phillip was funny. Nevermind.

Okay...

Back to engraving (apologies to the OP for straying). Not a fan, but I could get used to it if it were on a really sweet pen.

This not an issue of right or wrong. It depends on the pen and the occasion you got it on. Was it a gift from a family member, did you buy it yourself? I personally don't get mine personalized. But if my wife gave me one for an anniversary, I'd want it personalized.

i think someone who buys pen with the intention to keep it for himself and for hairloom would want

an engraving on it. i'd do it too, especially with a pen of exceptional value and durability, say of gold or silver,

with the thought of my family's future generation - i myself would treasure a signed pen from great, great

grand parent.

Fountain Pen is for people who have a delicate taste in writing
