Lamy Safari Grey/Griso

As intro, there's a good thread on the Safari colors here:

In any event, the grey/griso model was difficult to find for some of us, but I recently discovered one could order replacement pieces (cap, section/nib, barrel) separately from Lamy USA:

http://www.lamyusa.com/safari5.html

Just order the three pieces and the total comes to $35 + shipping!

If anybody has an inkling of where to find Terracotta Orange & Savanna Green models, please give me a heads up.

Happy Holidays!

What a great idea! I'd been letting the Griso slide for lack of availability but this might just tempt me especially since I can get my favorite EF nib. :)

Thanks for the cool tip! Does anyone know if the Al-star nib unit can be matched with the Safari body and cap?

Dear All,

I am new to FPN and a beginner for this hobby. I was wondering if anyone know when was the LAMY Safari Grey/Griso series produced?

Many Thanks and best regards.

All, if I've the right version, you might be interested to know that Cultpens in the UK have some of these available as new old stock;

http://www.cultpens.com/acatalog/Lamy-safari-fountain-pen.html#a19332

(No affiliation, but I've bought from them quite a bit and always had good service).

£10.16 (pounds sterling) with free delivery in the UK, £7.50 delivery to Eu countries, £10 to other addresses (charged per order).

Medium nib only.

Hello and welcome to FPN! I believe the Safari "Grey" (Lamy's spelling) was produced in the very early part of the new century around 2001-2002 (I bought one around that time), but it may have been available in the late 1990s. However, I would be very interested to hear from an expert Safari collector. Perhaps this will "bump" this post up a bit.

Spare parts for the grey model are still available from Lamy USA (March, 2011), but the prices have increased. The L13 grey nib/section unit, L13 grey barrel and L13 grey cap are now $20 each, making a complete pen cost $60. The grey is, indeed, very nice in a beautiful, subtle way.

BTW, any slide-on style Safari, AL-Star, Accent, CP1, Logo, Studio, etc. nib will fit this, or any Safari.

Regards, Robert

No matter where you go, there you are.

Dear Robert,

Thank you very much for responding to my question.

I have sent an enquiry to LAMY's headquarter, but they have referred me to contact my local distributor. Let's wait for the expert to shed some lights on this.

Best,

Sunday

So... I'm in Vegas and this is my first post. I have in my possession a few (less than 10, more than 5) of these pens. They're new in a Lamy blister pack of some sort and includes a vinyl pouch. Black MEDUIM nib. I had a friend pick these up for me from the UK and I just recently returned with them while I was in Europe. I'm not going to ask for outrageous shipping fees and I'm not really looking to make a profit. I know people were trying to sell these on various forums for over $40 at one point. Consider this as me paying my dues for all the information I've gathered on here in the recent years. If anyone is interested, please let me know... $25 - I think I can include shipping in the US for that price. Also... If this is inappropriate and a moderator wants to move it the for sale area, please do and accept my apologies.

As a general rule we don't allow people to sell outside the Classifieds section. However, the post by Wex was a legitimate answer to the question asked. I'd have preferred the message to be sent by PM rather than as an open sale invitation, so please in future could everyone avoid open sales outside Classifieds and make notifications by PM if you want the moderators to remain calm and under-worked.

I know, I want to remain calm & under-worked.

Regards,

Richard.
