I'm surprised not to see votes for Violet because Herbin 'Violet Pensee' is a favourite for many FP users.

Like Herbins 'Moon Dust', the 'Violet Pensee' settles down and dries to a very practical and attractive colour that is not at all weird.

The Herbin 'Rouge Opera' does the same. Wet it looks red but it immediately settles into a brownish rust colour that looks great on any paper.

Don't think I am a PR man for Herbin - I am just a happy user

I love purple. I'm waiting for my local supplier to get La Reine Mauve so I can start signing my cheques in purple.

Voted turquoise, though it was only half a length ahead of purple and blue. I'm thinking that Noodler's Navajoe Turquoise is the reason why (that and childhood memories of Skrip Peacock Blue).

I voted blue-black, but really my favorite is Noodler's (via Swisher Pens) Tahitian Pearl, which is more like a green-purple, which is a good thing, says me.

And I just as truthfully could have said brown. I'm using J. Herbin's Cafe des Iles now, and also really dig my 80% Galileo Manuscript 20% Black Noodler's for a permanent brown.

Blue is my favorite, but brown is a close second. I also like blue black, but there are very few that meet my specifications.

My favorite color is blue. That includes Naples Blue, DC Supershow Blue, Legal Lapis and Baystate Blue. Almost any hue of blue will do.

Next are reds and purples. I love Noodler's Red Black and Private Reserves' Purple Mojo.

Hard to tell, I do not hav a fav one. I switch from blue to red to green to purple to orange to black etc. I do not like pink, yellow, white and blue-black. So, I didn't vote

I am personally suprised that so many people like purple. I started with it because it is one my wife's sorority colors but I am finding that I really like it. Before I found FP's I liked blue but it is nice to have choices

Green for me - though I most always add a touch of black to "moss" it down. I use mossy colors or gold colors of green. I have fun mixing them to get what I want

I am continually on the search for R&K Alt GrunGold and have to break down and order it from Britain!

Blue, it's always been my favorite color and the variety of blue inks available is mind numbing!

What? No burgundy? No bordeaux? Hmmph...

Vintage Skrip Burgundy is where it's at. If i can't have burgundy, i'll take a bottle of blue black.

I voted purple but what I really want is a deep purple with a tinge of red — aka plummy.

:D Levenger Pinkly. I use this in one of my purse pens. It makes a statement!

Sadly, I think this ink is being discontinued. :( So I’m trying to save it. There is no other replacement.

Writing instruments of the moment:

  • Pilot Prera Fountain Pen in Vivid Pink XF (Levenger ink, Pinkly).
  • Uniball α-Gel Slim Pencil in Pink (0.3mm leads).
  • Pilot 742 Fountain Pen in Black with Falcon (flex) Nib, (Pilot ink, Black).
  • Nikko G Nib in the penholder.

I'm a fan of Noodler's Luxury Blue. But, I've just tried Noodler's standard brown in my Van Gogh cappuccino maxi. There's something about coordinating the ink with the color of the pen which adds to the bliss of using a fp.

Certain color combinations also go well together. Turquoise ink goes great in a white or ivory pen with silver trim. I like a warm plummy purple ink in this deep red Pilot Knight. And I’m thinking of mixing up an warm orange to go into this deep red Pilot Vector. Blue and orange is also another striking color combination and if I were to do this, I’d go blue cobalt pen with bright saturated orange ink.
