My souped up Parker 25 fountain pen

I've always enjoyed the Parker Model 25 for their rugged tool-like build.

I have several and have found their nibs to be only tolerable at best.

An acquaintance is having me sell some pens and he had one that someone tried nib grinding on for the first time and took most of the irridium off.

So... I pulled out the nib assemble and looked at other pens in my collention.

I took a Sonnet steel nib and pushed it down into the section, firmly buy gently.

It fits nice and snuggly, although it does not screw into position, the fit is very secure.

The result is the smoothest Model 25 I have ever tried.

And a nice tool-pen for every day.

Let me know what you think.

Congratualtions! I think you have found a winning combination. I like the 1960s sci-fi look of the 25 with the cap on but I'm not sure that I would like to try one with an orginal nib which looks far too hard and unforgiving. This looks like a real pen with the cap off.

How is the ink flow? Do the nib and feed work OK if you put them back in a Sonnet?

Regards, Andrew

The section is a good match for the Sonnet feed without any modifications.

Simply a light press fit.

The nib writes with good uninterupted flow.

Just last eveing I have removed the second generation Sonnet nib and installed a first generation back into the 25.

The first generation nib looks even better and I like the softness of the first gen nib much better.

But this is all for experimentation as I would hardly sacrifice a $50/$60 Sonnet pen to save a student pen.

But maybe I can get a gold nib assembly from another source to complete the build?

A student pen with a gold nib, now that is a worthy project.

I will ask a favorite seller, Pam at oscarbraunpens.com is she can get a nib.

I wonder if this means a Sonnet nib assembly would fit a 95 or an Arrow FP????? Off to my workshop!
