Waterman's identification

Hi,

i bought this pen a while ago, clip and body have a "waterman's" imprint, pen is made in France due to the inscript "gold filled" written in french at the base of the cap and theres an "ideal" imprint and logo at the top of the cap.

Nib is 18kt N.2 gold nib, the pen size is small like a lady's pen.

The barrel is a friction fit.

I'm looking for the model, approx year of manufacture and also sac size as mine has ossified into small debris.

Thanks!

All the best,

Antonio.

This reminds me of the Waterman Crusader, although it doesn't have the horizontal lines around the cap. Similar in appearance, though.

I can't be sure because I can't see the detail on the cap clearly, but it looks like a Lady Garland. A Lady Garland should have cap detail like the feathery engraving on this Lady Garland Taperite:

Year of manufacture, judging from the grooved section, would be early 1950s. To determine sac size, read this article.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies, indeed the pen body looks similar.

Richard, i had already checked your website as it's always a pleasure to read, and i've tried to shoot a few more pictures, i suppose what i have is a different cap, the clip is shorter than yours and the cap is striated but the lines are straight, not wave-like. It's a little shorter than a Parker 51 demi (first photo, the demi is immediately on the left)

So maybe a specific french cap for the Lady Garland pen? I'm positive the cap is made in France as it reads "doublé or laminé" which means "gold filled" in french.

All the best,

Antonio

Antonio, it's still a lady's pen. The shorter clip is an indicator that it it's later than my Lady Garland, which was made probably in 1946. As for the style of the engraving in the cap, that's likely just a sign of changing times. The '40s were flossier than the '50s.
