Ed, thanks for the welcome, and I'm glad you appreciate the fringe allusion. Culture is a funny thing; you'd think that some elements are securely embedded in our collective awareness -- take Uncle Wiggly, for instance -- but there's no way to resist the erosion of time.

While in my observations Baystate Blue works perfectly with all my Pelikan pens it has problems with all my Lamys. Poor ink flow, dry nib and skipping all the time. Seems it just doesn't work with every pen

In my Pelikan M200 get clogged. Parker's, Rotring's, Omas & Lamy's too. :crybaby:

This ink color is very beutiful but is very aggresive to nib holder and other componets of your pen, so, is very difficult to clean. I use in 4 different pens and all get clogged.

I use a Parker frontier M nib, a Pelikan M200 F nib, Rotring Newton M nib & Omas Milord M nib (my biggest mistake). In Omas & Pelikan was very dificult clean all, if fact all pens was affected in the ink flow & wasn't completly clean. Now, I have a Omas with skipping lines and a grey Pelikan with a blue-tinted vent.

If you use the piston filled system or converter, all parts that keep in touch with the ink going to affected with a blue-tint effect. BEWARE.

If you love your pens forget this ink, this beautiful blue color has consequences to your pen. :crybaby:

I love BSB!! But after hearing all the words of warning on this site, I decided I was only going to use it in a modern cartridge filler, so as to not possibly stain any of my vintage pens. So I have it in a Waterman, and it is PERFECT, every time. I have been doing this for months, and I am happy with it.

Much Love--Virginia

I use BSB in my M200 with no problems. It even sits for several days unused and starts right up.

I have to agree. I have BSB in several of my pens and it seems to be a well behaved ink. The extra work, to me, is worth that beautiful blue color.

I think this is one of the funniest and most debated posts around here in Ink Reviews.

The color is very interesting, but I wouldn't trust my pens with BSB.

With all this bad flak, why do they still sell it in its original formulation?

Because the people who like it want it the way it is? Luckily Noodler's provides one or two other inks for those who don't like this one...

The worst problem for me is how it stains my sink when I rinse out a pen. I've given up on it just for that reason.

These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives everything its value.--Thomas Paine, "The American Crisis", 1776

Oh, dear friends,

please stop this thread, which I did start in a weak moment.

This "thing" will be after me 'til I loose the last friend I have here. :gaah:

The inkbottle is gone, living happily in Spain now. :happyberet:

I'm a happy user of Noodler's Ottoman Azure, Legal Lapis and Prussian Blue.

There are so many threads about BSB - please continue there. B)

Let it rest in peace now, please.

Best,

Anna :vbg:
