With re to tarnishing, my Miya doesn't at all. There's not one mark on mine. Just checked my Extra sitting in the cupboard which I've never used and it's tarnished where the feed meets the section: best to used then eh???!???!!!

Thanks

I am new to FPN and I was reading through some older fountain pen reviews. I came across this review and noticed the beautiful handwriting and of course the geogeous pen. I have several Montegrappa fountain pens and was already very familiar with this great brand. After reading this review and looking at the outstanding pictures I ended up ordering this pen. I received it in the mail today. It is a beautiful fountain pen. Montegrappa certainly knows how to create eye-catching writing instruments. Thanks for writing an outstanding review!

I'm glad you liked the review so much, and somewhat humbled. The celluloid on the piece is so vibrant, it still remains one of my favourite pens. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine!

Hi feiye, thanks for the great review of the Miya Argento and an introduction to Montegrappa's writing instruments. I really liked the blue of the celluloid, and the ink you had used for writing the review! Mind sharing what ink was it that you had used to pen the review? Thanks :)

I missed this review for I was not active in 2008 at FPN. Well written, concise and neat review. The pen is, of course, a stunning Montegrappa. I own two Symphonies and the celluloid is stunning ( although somebody told me that the Symphony is not celluloid, whatever). The nibs are very smooth and have some flex. I love my Montegrappas and I'm glad you're enjoying yours.

It is a great pen as well as the "old style Omas".

Like you I own three Symphonies and they are great looking pens. They are made of celluloid. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise. My favorite brands are Montegrappa and Pelikan.

The Symphonies are made from celluloid. There was another series made from resin called the Harmony that had the exact same shape as the Symphony but different, more colourful resin.

Maybe the confusion came from there. Anyways, you can check my Montegrappas in my profile. The best of all is that I got them reduced! The red one needed some "plastic surgery" for the owner had really mistreated the pen and the nib. Richard Binder took care of that and later on I had it ground to a crisp italic by Greg Minuskin. I love these pens.... and my Pelikans too!
