Best Ink for Dried Blood?

Beardy

Recommended Posts

My vote is for both Noodler's Tianamen and Red-Black. They each look like different sorts of dried blood... and incidentally are two of my favorite inks.

Red Black is like red wine, isn't it?

So red wine is like blood?

Red-Black is closer to brown than anything, as far as i know.

PR Orange Crush looks bloodish when going down the sink... maybe if it's dripped onto paper, it could look like blood?

You could always ask for a "sacrifice/donation".

I'll take an Aurora, please. Aurora black.

Knowing more about blood than I do Red FP ink...I can say that it really depends on the age of the blood, the thickness its laid down with and what its laid down on.

To my eye the most attractive Noodler's representation is Red Black. Its reasonable close to the color of actual blood, and still hasn't developed the brown color of blood that's been dried too long.

My vote also for Noodlers Tiananmen.

I've not tried Antietam, but I'm impressed with Tiananmen for resembling dried blood..

A third vote for Tianamen for dried blood. From the scans, Antietam looks more like fresh blood, Tianamen like dried blood.

Not sure what the deal is, but Tianamen looks a bit burgundy-ish for me when dry. This is from a sample from Pear Tree, in a pen that had hitherto been uninked.

I'd second Antietam as well!

Actually I was expecting a red but is more like a orange-red-brown color (depending on the ink flow and nib width it shows more orange or brown tones).

Here is a quick comparison including some of the mentioned inks:
