Diamine Light Green

Recommended Posts

The first time I tried Diamine’s Light Green ink was in a fine nib. Quickly I realized my mistake, as the ink was far too light for that nib. I kept squinting and pressing down harder to get a readable word on the page. Moving up to a medium nib brought out all the flaws in my handwriting. It wasn’t until I tried the ink with a broad nib that I remembered why I had wanted to try this shade of green. It reminds me of new grass! The broad nib laid down the color I wanted. All that goes to show me, though, is that this is an ink I may use for a special occasion, with a broad nib, and, of course, not as a daily ink.

The ink was quick to dry.

It did not feather or bleed through the paper.

The paper I used was my every day Dennison National Brand notepaper.

I hope the scan is useful for anyone interested in this ink!

You know, inks like this one [and Diamine Violet comes to mind too] that look so very different on paper, based on the nib, make me wonder what the makers originally had in mind when they mixed it. Not that there's a right or wrong shade.

Thanks for sharing this with us, jde

Thanks for the excellent review. This is too light for me, I prefer a darker shade. I love Waterman's shade of green.

That writing sample with different sized nibs is a great way to show off what Diamine Light Green can do. It is a really pleasing clear color that I picked up last spring to go with pinks and lilacs. It works well in my journal using a stub or italic nib and also for margin notes made with a very fine nib. The pale color catches my eye just enough to see the notes but not enough to distract from reading the text. With dozens of inks from which to choose, Light Green is my top choice for this purpose.

Ah! I like that this ink can serve a purpose: margin notes.

I'm actually going to try that on. Thanks for weighing in.

  • 4 years later...

I find that most of these light inks only really come alive with a flex nib; here is my somewhat pathetic attempt:

First line is a Waterman 52 with a medium flex nib (slightly prone to skipping/hard starts); second is a Nakaya Music nib for comparison. Paper is Rhodia No 8 pad.

And here is the Ahab on the same paper:

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time
