What Pens Are You Using Today?

But first, partly thanks to Taki's posts, comes the Decimo. In which I plan to load my PR Arabian Rose

I still don't know how to use the converter with my pink Decimo, but when I do, it's going to be filled with Arabian Rose.

Today I've been making notes with my Virginia Woolf MB, filled with Burgundy Mist. I, also, was moved by pakmanpony's tribute to his father, and send my condolences.

Good morning, JD and everyone. Looks like sunny and nice day. Hope work is not too busy today.

coco, I'm sorry you can't get converter to work. Seems like I hear that a lot lately. I think I said this already, but I just fill empty cartridges with my choice of ink using syringe. You can buy an oral syringe to give medicine to babies in drug store.

Good morning Taki, sorry you have to work on such a nice day.

Today my lead FP is going to be a VP, but who knows what will get used as the day goes on...?

Good morning, JD and eveyone. It's 62F and going to be a nice day. We will go to downtown to watch the parade, then might have early lunch. The University is out for summer, and the population in Ames decreases to 1/2 the normal. I love quiet summer :) (probably businesses in town do not)

Eureka! Ames is finally throwing the students out? Wonderful! Now maybe you won't have to wait for 15 hours to get a table at Hickory Park on a Saturday! Saucy Southerners...here I come!

For me, the pens of the day are my Black Simplicity, the Dove Grey 51 Vac, and the Kelly Green Cross Solo XF. The Simplicity and the Solo are filled with Pelikan Blue; the Dove Grey is filled with Montblanc Black (vintage-ish from the late 80s...cool bottle!)

I've been trying to write a few pens dry to make room in my rotation for some pens that should be arriving/returning shortly.

This weekend I used mainly:

Sailor 1911 fine/medium nib with Sailor Jentle Blue; Haolilai 801F with Private Reserve Shoreline Gold

Today it's:

Pelikan M200 amber demonstrator with .7mm Binder cursive italic and Waterman Havana

FPN LE (steel fine nib) with Waterman Blue-Black.

I am using a LAMY Vista (?) It is the clear bodied plastic that seems to be called the Vista, but Paradise Pen (where I purched) calls it a Demonstrator... oh well Has a LAMY black cartridge.

Also, a LAMY Al-Star with converter and Waterman Blue-Black (also had PR Plum earlier).

Both are medium nib. The shop is not stocked in other nibs...would have to order. I may check out a cursive Italic from R Binder.

Pens I tested yesterday:

Cross Century II--Medalist Chrome with Gold accents and gold nib

Cross Century II-Century II Lustrous Chrome with Steel nib

Parker VP--only fine nib in the store...and Fine definitely means FINE...very thin, but steady line

Pelikan-- 150 or 200 I believe (priced around $70?) anyway, felt VERY good in my hand...like the weight and balance.

BUT...still new and still shy of price tags north of $50...partly budget, but mostly just still getting used to thinking of these as more than a pen, if that makes sense.

BTW...I WANTED to buy the Medalist and Pelikan and possily the VP ('course, the VP was well beyond my current comfort zone

Although, when I exchanged my PR Ultra Black for Watermans...I almost bought the Pelikan

For a week or so I've been carrying my 1943 Hundred Year Pen, with the wicked flexie, so this weekend I put my 1941 Hundred Year Pen, with the RIGID accountant point, in the Piquadro, too, in the slot normally reserved for THE "51".

What' that you say? have I finally abandoned THE "51"? Not hardly! Fortunately, there's a nice open place between the two sewn-in slots, plenty spacious for THE "51":

Parker 75, sterling sliver, with PR Burgundy Mist ink. Pen is always a good writer (as long as its clean) and the ink is not one of my all time favorites, but is provides a distinct contrast to other notes and scribbles on invoices, credit approvals etc. The ink color I find, distinguishes who approved a doc as much as the signature.

Today I am using my new prize (Pelikan M200 with Binder F nib) and my old reliable Phileas F. I have my Sailor INK PEN in standby, and a few others in the carriers, but I probably will stay with the dynamic duo for most of the day.

my just-arrived "51" vac w/ Noodler's Ottoman Azure. Griz said to use Waterman ink in it, but my new stash hasn't arrived and I just. couldn't. wait.

I don't know if I'm more surprised at the heft of it, or that the F/XF nib is behaving so well... just glides across the page...
