What Pens Are You Using Today?

It's my day off and so far have not used a pen yet  I was going to use Estie M2 with very fine stub nib but the filler leaks like crazy <_<

Will write my journal later today with Silver VP with Tanzanite Glacier mix. I need to flush out and change ink in many of my pens.

This is great news! This thread didn't seem the same without you. And the pix of your daily choice(s). Oh oh  guess I'd better declare mine: Pilot 78G, M, with Noodler's Squeteague, and Bexley FPN LE, mix of Visconti Blue and Noodler's Black, both used mostly while riding Metrorail.

Good morning Taki and all who peruse these pages. It is 64F and promises to be a fine day albeit a tad warm. And thank you lefty928, most gracious of you.

Today I am using an M800 (what else) and others to be decided as the day progresses. One is never enough..........

Taking time off today. Guess I'll use my Pilot Knight w/PR Supershow Blue (although I might sneak in some Fiesta Red in my Haolilai later). Have a good one!

Today I am using, so far, one P21 and one Pilot 2A. I have a P51 ready to go, as well as a Sailor "INK PEN", my two Watermans and two Pelikans. So far it's a slow day -- many people taking the day off to get a 4 day week, with Monday being Memorial Day.

I received an interesting NOS Platinum FP from the 70s today. It's fairly long and just a little on the slim side. It has a very fine 14k nib and writes rather smoothly. So, I'm using that and a Sheaffer desk pen for short notes.

Today, I was in a rush, so stayed with the FPN LE (F) and Pilot 78G (M). Tomorrow, though, I'll catch up on writing and use the Sailor 1911M with Noodler's Blue Black and the Pelikano with Apache Sunset. JD -- I always love to see that red Pelikan! Makes me waver on my someday purchase plans for a Pelikan M600, traditional green striped. The blue is pretty, too ... But first, partly thanks to Taki's posts, comes the Decimo. In which I plan to load my PR Arabian Rose, also thanks to Taki. I am so easily influenced ...

Last night I filled my new/old Parker Duofold Jr. Streamlined Black and Pearl with Sheaffers Scrip black ink. I never-ever use black ink, but I had been thinking about the era when this pen was made (late 1920's) and what ink choices they would have had. Your basic black or blue/black. Then I thought about my father and how he would have been 8-9 years old when this pen was first sold, and how poor they were. The price of this pen would have seemed totally out of reach for his family. Dad taught me the value of hard work, doing a good job and saving your money. So there I sat with this wonderful vintage pen just a few years younger than dad full of black ink. Strangely I wondered again why I had chosen this ink, after all black ink is for signing important documents and I foresaw no such need!

The VA hospital called about 4am this morning to tell us that dad had passed away in his sleep a short time earlier. Alzheimer's had claimed yet another beloved parent and grandparent. I was thankful later this morning as we sat at the funeral home finishing up the details, that we had pre-arranged all of the major details of his funeral. Mom couldn't handle reading or signing any of the papers so she asked us to handle it for her. They passed the papers to me to sign and I absently reached to my pocket and pulled out a pen. As I began to sign the first document, I realized that in my had was that carefully preserved and "properly" inked 78 year old Duofold!

As I turn this pen over in my hands tonight, I'm wondering how many other times it was called upon to request death certificates, or sign birth certificates, or wedding licenses, or induction papers. What stories would it tell about its owners and its travels around the world in those 78 years? It came to me from a seller in Hong Kong. How did it happen to get there? So many interesting questions.

Why I inked it with black ink last night, I'll never fully understand, but I believe I will now always use black ink in this pen. Hopefully each time I use it I be reminded of my wonderful dad and the life lessons he taught me.

And a rousing good morning to you Taki and anyone who is up and present.

Let’s all meet outside in 15 minutes for jumping jacks and a short run and then a nice breakfast of fresh fruit and poached eggs on a muffin.

Can't tell you the temp because the thermometer is broke.

Doing my part to bring the price of gasoline down. Lot of traveling this weekend. First taking the crown prince to see his mum...picking him up on the morrow...and heading out for the NC mountains on Monday. Today will be my new Binder's Pelikan M200 w/med. stub italic and PR Supershow Blue.

My sympathies on this Memorial Day weekend. A very eloquent statement. I would love to see this pinned to the top of the board somewhere. It truly speaks to the power of simple things to add texture and meaning to our lives. Thanks for sharing.

A black Waterman Charleston, silver furniture with a medium 18k nib. Havana brown for a bit of a subdued classic. It's also garden mulching day, so brown seemed fitting.
