What Pens Are You Using Today?

Lamy 2000, m nib with Private Reserve DC Supershow Blue

Parker Premier (Tartan), f nib with Noodler's Navajo Turquoise

Ranga "Valor," (Black Ebonite), b nib with J. Herbin Bleu Nuit

The Ranga "Valor" is a bit of a franken-pen. Peyton Street Pens sells a variant of a Ranga pen that is sold with a Sheaffer Imperial nib unit. I'm not partial to gold trim and managed to find a Sheaffer Valor nib unit -- and it fits! The rhodium plated nib and black pen look awesome...like a torpedo, especially since I've removed the clip. I definitely recommend putting together a pen like this if you can (the Ranga pens can be purchased without a nib unit) as it's a really nice combo. I prefer it to the Valor, in fact. I'm intending to do a review on it...at some point...stay tuned!

Today, I inked a typically unused Sheaffer Imperial with a 14k EF nib, to compare it with a newly acquired Aurora Ipsilon Deluxe with a 14k EF nib. The latter is known, correctly or not, as "toothy," and the best way to test its texture is head-to-head against a similar nib. The Aurora and Sheaffer have extremely fine lines. The Aurora doesn't drag and is much smoother than the Sheaffer, but the Aurora still falls short of my favorite Parker 75 with a Premier EF nib. Bottom line: nothing beats the Parker 18k nib, but the Aurora is surprisingly smooth. The Sheaffer goes back in the drawer.

Today it's going to be my Waterman Phileas loaded with Diamine Majestic Blue. I've had this pen for about 12 years and it is a sentimental favorite. Always been a smooooooooth writer!

Sailor 3776

hmmm, I thought Platinum made the 3776. Are Sailor and Platinum affiliated in some fashion? Just curious...

And for today, let's use the Conway Stewart Wellington in Black Whirl, M nib, filled Diamine Delamere Green.

My brand new Persimmon Swirl Edison Collier B with Iroshizuku Asa-Gao

Maybe this is just my OCD peeking out, but seeing that beautiful blue Asa-gao coming out a Persimmon Swirl pen just seems... wrong to me.

I just finished the repair on the two on the right, and I'm planning to play with the black Statesman for a couple days before really cleaning it up.

I'm using my Parker Sonnet F with Paradise Pen ink to do my schoolwork.

I also used my Jotter at school for writing my name during Civics and Economics 8 AAP (HN).

I'm writing my agenda with my Parker Sonnet F AGAIN...

"Yay", I'm using the same ink again. However, I have some ink samples I'm going to try this weekend.
