What I think is an early Sheaffer Lifetime Valiant, but it's a lever filler not a snorkel. Black and gold, filled with Diamine Red Dragon.

My new Lamy Vista with an extra-fine nib and the included blue ink cartridge. A remarkably smooth and well-writing pen. I'm happy with it so far.

Amberleadavis, after seeing my array of instruments, suggested that I share writing samples. I find myself doodling today with my late father's MB. I don't know if he'd approve of the choice of color for the ink (I think he only used black, and for garish moments of fancy, he might go to a festive blue-black ;) ) The quote is fun, and so is the pen.

I broke out my modern Sheaffers today. My first fountain pen was an early-generation Targa in matte black with gold trim (for high school graduation in 1982). A very smooth medium nib, and it's still a very nice writer. As I'm getting better at cursive, I like it more and more. It's a bit too thick of a line for printing.

And my Sheaffer Legacy 1 (bought it in 1999 but with the square blind cap and choice of touchdown or cartridge in the same pen) in all black with gold trim, using the touchdown filler. A thinner medium nib, but also a very smooth writer.

Both are filled with my time-capsule bottle of Parker Penman Black. This seems to work the best with these wet-writing, medium-nibbed, Sheaffers.

Today I've been using my Onoto 3000.

Tomorrow I'll be using the Onoto 3000 in the morning, then in the afternoon when I'm in the office I'll use my CS and my Lamy vista.

Today, I alternated between a Pelikan m400 extra fine with Pelikan 4001 black ink, and a Uni-Ball Jetstream fine retractable rollerball. The ink colors and lines of the pens are almost identical and both are lightweight. The Pelikan is better for extended writing and the Uni-Ball is better for jotting notes, but the similarity is surprising.

I grabbed a Safari, EF nib, and put down a few lines in Noodler's Apache Sunset earlier today. I hope to get down to serious pen time a bit later today.
