What Pens Are You Using Today?

I'll probably carry the "51" and the Lamy 2000 today; that's becoming a favorite pair.

I may use the Waterman Carene for some writing this evening. I want to learn how much it writes before it needs to be refilled.

So far, my Platinum Carbon desk pen, extra fine, using...Platinum Carbon Black. And assorted ball-pointed-thingies that came quickly to hand in assorted circumstances.

Today will be a Waterman Exception, F nib, Yama-Budo. Sometimes the square body feels odd, but it is a very smooth writer.

Pilot Custom 823, F nib, Yama-Budo ink

I was sorry to read about another member's terrible experiences with this pen. Mine has been wonderful from day 1, smooth as can be. Every now and then it shows signs of going dry, but re-inking it fixes that immediately. Because of its cool vacuum filling system, you have to remember to unscrew the filler cap, otherwise the ink does not flow smoothly. I've been guilty of that on occasion. Hopefully they will fix that in the next rev.

Normally I have three pens with me at all times, and I just use the one I feel like when I need to write something. If one of the pens runs out, it gets cleaned out, put into the pen case, and a different one will take its place.

The current inked pens are:

Parker Sonnet Red Gold Fine, Waterman Intense Black

Sailor Sapporo Black GT Medium, Waterman Intense Black

Waterman Hemisphere White CT Fine, Waterman South Sea Blue

I'm thinking of changing the Sapporo over to Diamine Asa Blue.

I only write with Western Fine or Japanese Medium nibs or smaller. A Sailor Medium (0.5mm according to nibs.com) is the biggest I'll use, or it gets too broad for me. I have several Chinese pens in the mail, all M, and if they're wider than the Sailor, the nibs will be replaced with either F or XF nibs, assuming I like the pens.

That's a really cool design. I'd get that one in a heartbeat, but the only one on eBay right now is light blue. I'd like a grey/chrome one better :)
