Is there such a thing as too many? :D It depends on how much you write. I like to empty my pens in a week or less.

I am no longer very active on FPN but feel free to message me. Or send me a postal letter!

Agreed. One of the things I enjoy most about this hobby is trying new pen/nib/ink combinations, so writing them empty is kind of a goal for me (I don't like to put ink back into the bottle once it's been in a pen. I'm sure it's probably OK, and people do it all the time without adverse sequellae...I just don't do it.)

I tend to write a fair amount. Mainly keeping notes from my meetings, of which I seem to have quite a few. I try to use a different pen for each meeting. You know... to keep the notes separate. Something I picked up from my internship in hospital where each of the nurses' shifts used a different color ink. That way you could readily see which of them made the entry into the patient's chart. They didn't use fountain pens though...it was cheap Bic Biros for them (Philistines! :) ).

I don't know if one can truly have too many pens inked up at once, but I think if I had more than six, that might be exceeding a useable limit for me.

I get stuck on a particular pen. Right now the same Lamy Al-Star with what may be the best ink ever, Sailor Kiwa Guro! Nib by me (really fine cursive italic) and the best journal paper I've used, Stillman & Birn Epsilon:

Just had my vintage Conway Stewart 27 back from the excellent John Sorowka. It's writing beautifully. Trying Pelikan 4001 blue black in it at the moment. I also have my Italix Captain's Commission inked up with Diamine Sunset ready to go
