Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Burgandy Namiki Falcon SM, inked with Diamine Syrah

Sapphire Pilot Falcon SEF, inked with Aurora Black.

My first modern "flexible" nib, my first Pilot and my first Japanese extra-fine. I must admit, it takes more than a little getting used to. I'm glad Pilot calls these nibs "soft" and not "flexible" and I now know I've been spoilt by a vintage Waterman 52.

I do appreciate the extra-fine lines it can create, and super-extra-fine if you use it with the nib upside down (carefully!) The Pilot looks to be a great pen for sketching, doodling and, in time, very small writing in a Palmer / Business Writing style.
