What Pens Are You Using Today?

I have been using a Parker Sonnet quite a bit lately for work and on-the-go. Fine nib and black Quink, it is an all-around work-horse combination which I appreciate. Also, I have the matching MP for the Sonnet, which is always a plus in my book.

As much as I like the Waterman Phileas, it is more bulk than I care to pack around in a shirt pocket, so it is my at-home pen. (Medium nib and Tanzanite ink.)

However, I just received a Waterman Maestro in the mail from Yiterp. (I already had the pencil, and wanted the FP to match.) I loaded it up with some Noodler's Legal Lapis and it writes beautifully. I like the nib a lot. It seems a tad broader than the fine nib on my Sonnet; it is certainly smoother. I tried it on a few different kinds of paper and it writes well on everything I've tried so far, including my Moleskine, which are so often derided for feathering and bleed-through, neither of which occurred with this pen/ink.

So the Sonnets will get a rest and the Maestros will take over shirt pocket duty.

But! ... there is a Sailor 1911M on its way from The Pear Tree. Who knows how this will change things?

Moning JD,

I think I'll be using the same pens as yesterday.

How do you take your pen photos for this thread and what program do you use to edit/crop? I am a very bad photographer, and currently I have Canon software that came with my camera and picasa but not really like either of them. Any tips for a novice?

Hey Taki, let's see some samples from that decimo/Quinkerman combo! I'm really interested in how the chemical composition of that ink has held up over time. Seems like in some of my pens, I've seen it come out red/brown, and in some others, it's come out the way it was intended to.

Thanks!

Ryan,

Yup, it looks red-brown or almost burgundy in decimo. I feel like it changes color on different paper, too. I will try to shoot some pictures on Sunday (still trying figure out my camera and desktop software) smile.gif

JD,

Thanks for the photo as always! I am blaming you for an impulse purchase of a silver pen a couple days ago tongue.gif

My pens today:

Parker "51" cordovan vac, the clip and flow fixed by DWL, filled with Highland Heather. It is flowing very well in this pen but I'm telling myself that I have to flush frequently.

Pilot 78G with Legal Lapis for official writing.
