Visconti Opera

Visconti Michelangelo

Pelikan M400

Parker Sonnet

Faber Castell Graf Von pernambucoo

Mostly the Visconti Opera (very smooth) and the Montegrappa (crisp and smooth)

A few months ago I went on a quest to find the perfect color, I tried different brands and a LOT of colors. After a long time I decided that I would stay with the "classic" blue ink. I've been using blue ink since I learned to write (I went to the German School were you start with a fountain pen, lucky me) and I have never been let down by the ink. As a student I want to keep using this beautiful color since it looks more elegant on the paper. Waterman Ink (florida Blue) is the ink that I'm putting in all the pens I use but Sheaffer's Skrip is, in my opinion, the best option. When I finally manage to empty the bottle I will go with the Sheaffer.

Writing with a fountain pen during the lectures makes these more enjoyable, I strongly recommend every student to do so.

Cheers

Emilio

I'm a rank newbie and not worthy to hang out here :notworthy1: but I'll toss my daily user in the ring. I've got some lab reports due in the next week (my pen money comes from being a molecular microbiology grad student) so I've been filling them out with my uniball signo DX 0.38 in violet. Have some other notes to transcribe today and I've been using my Lamy safari inked with PR Avacado (does it bug anyone but me that they spell 'avacado' that way? *brrr*).

I want more classic FPs. I :puddle: over everyone's pens here. I'm haunting ebay and the sales section of the forum here. I hope to add some nice classic FPs to my collection soon(ish). Pity us poor grad students with pitiful sums to laughingly call 'disposable' income :roflmho:

I totally agree with you! I wish I could fast-forward my years as a Student an finally earn some more pen money!

I limit myself to two "wet and ready" and today I have;

Parker Vector Flighter, M nib, Parker blue Quink from a cartridge.

Sheaffer 300 Chrome and blue, M nib, Sheaffer black Skrip from a cartridge.

This is the first time these have been inked. The little Vector is smoother than I thought it would be but a bit on the dry side. I'll find a converter for it and see if it likes other inks. The Sheaffer 300 is big and heavy but balances well in my hand. The S.S. Sheaffer nib is very smooth and just wet enough that it starts right away without any sign of skipping.

It reminds me in many ways of the Parker 51. I love mine and have given several as 21st presents.

Using a beaten-up Parker 45 that happens to be a great writer. Need to tackle the 1.1i nib on my TWSBI when I get home, to see if I can get it to flow better. I wonder if it's being a lefty that's causing me to find it too dry/skippy.

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Got my sapphire TWSBI Vac 700 with M nib yesterday. Filled it with Binder Burgundy (1:1 Waterman Purple and Sheaffer Skrip Red). Also using my smoke TWSBI 540 (M also) filled with Lamy Turquoise. I notice the 540's size 5 nib writes a bit wetter than the Vac 700's size 6 nib. I might tweak the Vac 700 nib a bit for a wetter flow.

It's a lovely pen. I love looking at the jewel-tone translucent blue.
