What Pens Are You Using Today?

I just received my Guider JUMBO today. This thing is just ridiculously HUGE!! I love it. I never thought I would have to buy ink by the quart, but I think this thing needs a dipstick in the side. It is very smooth and writes wonderfully. I am trying to post some pics but I'm not gold yet and have exceeded my limit apparently. Hopefully can post soon.

Visconti Homo Sapiens and Lamy Al-Star. I use the Lamy every day at work as my "beater." This is my HS's first day in the wild, however. It's such a wet writer it's having some difficulties with my cheap office notebook (bleed through, feathering, etc.) Looks like I need to get some better notebooks. :glare:

Alternating between 4 different pens today:

  1. *3rd Generation Pelikan M1000 Black-Green [*single chick logo screened onto cap], Medium 'stub-ish" nib with a nice spring to it resulting in sweet line variations. Ink being used in this pen = My home-brewed blend or a Coral Sea "clone", very close to the original Coral Sea that I cannot afford to buy from Australia.
  2. Lamy-Vista Demonstrator with 1.5mm Italic nib. Ink being used in this pen = Noodler's Kung te-Cheng "Emperors' Purple" that's been filled for more than a week w/o any clogging whatsoever, continues to write every time will very little effort [if any at all] getting it to start flowing. Very expressive Italic nib, very gorgeous ink too!
  3. Lamy- Safari in Charcoal with converter, I'd changed from a glossy black to a stealthier satin black metal clip on cap that better matches the satin Charcoal of the pen. Ink being used in this pen = Pilot Iroshizuku Ku-jaku {Japanese Peacock} also know as a Deep Turquoise in color, really nice shading too from wide Italic nibs.
  4. December 2000 era Japanese Pilot Cap-less in Mustard color [some call color Deep Yellow] with Japanese Medium "Special Alloy" nib that writes like a western Fine. Ink being used in this pen = Another of my Home-Brewed blends = Noodler's Polar Green:Black @ 5:1 ratio, looks very similar to discontinued MB Racing Green now. This pen is carried with me everywhere, in my soft black leather 3x5 card Pocket Jotter. Usually filled with Sailor Kiwa-Guro nano carbon black, works nicely in this pen. Polar G:B works extremely well in this pen too, a VERY slick writing/ lubricating ink blend with superior flow, wanted a little variety before going back to Kiwa-Guro ink.

“I view my fountain pens & inks as an artist might view their brushes and paints.

They flow across paper as a brush to canvas, transforming my thoughts into words and my words into art.

There is nothing else like it; the art of writing and the painting of words!”

Uni Kuru Toga mechanical pencil to make text boxes for my Pelikan M620 (loaded with Noodler's Nakahama Manjiro (first batch)). I looked at the tip with a magnifier and sure enough, the HB lead was a very symmetrically rounded cone!

A Sheaffer, looks like a typical school pen, this one has a gold cap and a Stylepoint nib.

A Sheaffer 444x, so worn now that that barrel is almost all brass.

A fake MB Copernicus.

All perfect writers and using Penman Sapphire

Two pens today.

My Sailor Professional Gear, ivory white, silver trim, M/F white gold nib, blue Sailor ink. Love this reliable writer!

And my new toy - Parker Premier Black Stealth, Fine black colored gold nib, Black Parker Quink ink. An equally wonderful writer, just purchased from Larry Dromgoole at Dromgoole's pens in Houston.

May I gush for a moment? There is no finer pen store, at least in the Houston/Texas/Louisiana/Oklahoma part of the country, in my opinion. If you don't know Larry and Dromgoole's you need to visit him. You will feel welcome, no pressure if you just want to look or try something out, he is a joy to visit.

Well, enough unsoliciited praise. Anyway, the new Parker Premier Stealth has an amazing finish, not the usual matte or shiny black, and writes like a dream. Apparently Parker used a classic Waterman feed and nib for this pen, and it shows.

This will be a very good day!

(Sorry, didn't mean to make this such a long post!)
