What Pens Are You Using Today?

Sooo many, today...

... writing with some to prevent dry nibs, testing pre-sale pens, and to see how they write upon some [cheap] copy paper my wife picked up...

So far today I've used...

  1. Rotring 1928 LE with custom-made hybrid Fountainbel power-filler piston head-Fine nib-Montblanc Racing Green.
  2. Pilot Cap-less in Mustard [circa Dec 2000]-Medium Special Alloy nib- my home-brewed Noodler's Polar Green:Black.
  3. Pelikan M1000-Medium stub-ish nib-Caran d' Ache Storm ink.
  4. LAMY Vista-1.5mm Italic-Noodler's Whaleman's Sepia ink.
  5. LAMY Safari Charcoal-Medium black steel-Iroshizuku Ku-jaku (Peacock) ink.
  6. Parker "51" 1st quarter 1945 [wartime vermeil pure silver clip, VERY rare] Vacumatic India Black-XF nib-Noodler's The Heart Of Darkness.
  7. Parker "51" 3rd quarter 1948 Vacumatic-Fill Cedar Blue-XF nib-Parker Penman Sapphire Blue [recon' from old cartridges].
  8. Pelikan M75 GO! Black/Lavender-Fine to Med nib-Noodler's Borealis black ink.
  9. Esterbrook Nurses' pen all-white-#9556 Fine-Noodler's The Heart Of Darkness.
  10. Levenger Plumpster Blue Pearl/Caramel [old style]-custom dual tip CI/A nib-Noodler's Bay State Blue.
  11. Pelikan M400 White/ Honey Tortoise-Med nib-Iroshizuku FuyuGaki [Japanese Winter Persimmon].
  12. Sheaffer's 304 [Fine] Transparent Green/Chrome cartridge pen circa 1960s.
  13. Esterbrook Dip-less XT-#9460 Carbon Copies nib-various inks.
  14. Esterbrook Dip-less XXT-#9314-B Relief [broad LF Oblique]-various inks.
  15. Preferred PEN 8 dip pen-Pelikan 4001 Turquoise ink.
  16. Sheaffer's Mil-clip "Vigilant" Black lever filler-Lifetime @ Med nib-Montblanc Racing Green.
  17. Sheaffer's Mil-Clip "Defender" Marine Green lever filler-Feather Touch 5 nib-Montblanc Racing Green.
  18. Sheaffer's Balance 875 Tortoise Brown VacFil- Fine Lifetime nib-Noodler's Polar Brown [1st Gen formula].
  19. Moore 18k Filled ring top lever filler[THE MOORE PEN 2 semi flex nib-Montblanc Racing Green ink.
  20. Marlowe Burgundy lever filler-Fine hooded nib-Noodler's Borealis ink.
  21. Parker Lucky Curve ring top in Jade Green-button filler-Parker Duofold "Z" nib-Montblanc Racing Green ink.

The only question/s I have now,....... what pen/s to try next, when will I take pictures, and when will I put most [not all] up for sale?

“I view my fountain pens & inks as an artist might view their brushes and paints.

They flow across paper as a brush to canvas, transforming my thoughts into words and my words into art.

There is nothing else like it; the art of writing and the painting of words!”

Pelikan M1000 (black and green) with 'F' nib, carrying Pelikan blue black ink. Love writing with this pen. Reliable, springy nib. A joy to hold and use.

Today a Pelikan M1000 but this time my black version, Medium nib, carrying Pelikan blue black ink. The fact that the nib has been adjusted by a nibmeister, allows for a lovely line variation. Found myself admiring the letters today and proud to own such a fabulous pen. A wet writer. Love the feel of these Pelikan 1000 pens. Great girth and length, making for a comfortable hold. Not at all heavy. Very springy nib, though not as much as the F nib on my other. Surprised at the flexibility of the nib however. Did well at work today on a number of different paper types. Now emptied and with the nib and feed soaking in a mixture of cold water and mild washing up liquid overnight before a full day of air-drying tomorrow. Really enjoyed this pen.

Pavoni.

This morning I just received my first Aurora. Loaded it up with Edelstein Onyx, and so far so good. The nib isn't quite as "forgiving" so far as other italics I have, but I'm sure it will break-in nicely.

Parker 75 Eccosais Fine with Parker Penman Sapphire

Lamy Al-Star Broad, same ink

The 75 has to be one of the nicest all metal pens made, this is a French 75,

it writes like a Ferrari 430, the Al-star feels like a Model T Ford.
