What Pens Are You Using Today?

Today is the olive green NOS 1967 Parker 45 filled with Noodler's Burma Road Brown. It feels eerily like a felt-tip pen, and although it's marked "F" (for fine, I presume), it leaves a pretty wide, yet dry line. I think I'm going to try and find an extra fine tip to try in it.

Don't be so fast to change nibs. It could be the ink. Burma Road Brown causes nothing but trouble in my pens, making an XF write like a broad. Dilute it a bit that has helped me. Better shading that way too.

Thanks for the tip. I'll decant a bit and dilute on the next fill up and see how it goes.

Hello, everyone.

I've been "field-testing" a couple of Platinum Preppy .05mm FPs converted to eyedropper fillers for a couple of weeks; don't want to trash my vintage pens at the office.

I used the "belt and suspenders" approach and converted them with both plummer's tape and the "o-ring."

- good thing, since there's ink-creep along the threads where I used the tape.

I can post updates on success / failure if there's interest from the Forum.

Thank you.

I have on my desk a number of pens. By my writing hand is a silvery little Esterbrook fitted with an Osmiroid broad italic nib. I am trying to find its sweet spot. By my elbow, the trusty transparent amber Pelikan M200 with an extra fine nib that I have extra-fined a bit more. A wonderful, reliable pen, my go-to pen. Beside it a pretty copper Esterbrook with a left oblique broad Osmiroid nib. Above them, by the computer screen my Platinum #3776 with its XXF nib, the finest nib I've got except for some very fine technical pens. In the drawer, waiting patiently, the Lamy 2000, the Cross, the Pilots... and I reach for...the Pelikan!

Alas, my back up pens - Parker Sonnet F and a Lamy Joy 1.1mm - as I am waiting for 1 to return from a re-grind, 1 to return from warranty repair, and 1 new Omas 360 Bronze Vision cursive italic F.

It's like I am anticipating the birth of a child - ok, that's over the top - a good friend's arrival at the airport - no, it's between the two. rolleyes.gif

What else do we have in life if not to help each other?

Esterbrook J in black with white Bell System Property imprint. I'm trying to use up as much of the Perle Noire in it as possible before I tear it down to troubleshoot the suddenly "wet" nib.

All of them  I'm slogging my way through a massive pile of research papers and final exams and thought it would make it more interesting to change pens with each paper. Gotta do something to keep me focused!

Currently using my Vanishing Point M with Herbin Poussière de Lune. Next up: Levenger Plumpster on a Diet B with Herbin Eclat de saphir.

Just used my Mandarin Duofold extra fine nib and it writes just GREAT!!!

Imprint is fine, only an ink spot i cannot remove by water and a tiny little bit of soft handsoap. Anyone any ideas how to remove the spot or should i take a picture of it first?

Thanks in advance
