Today my rotation goes to Sheaffer Valor black lacquered with the medium nib and filled with Parker Quink washable blue.

I find the medium inlaid nib of Sheaffer Valor too broad for my taste though.

today's pen is an old style green striped Pelikan M600 made in the early 1990s loaded up with Noodlers Polar Blue.

I had some trouble selecting today's carry-with-me-pens--I have too many inked at the moment, and I want to use them all! Right now! At once! Finally was able to narrow it down to a single three-pen case:

Chatterly Ripple silver & clear, 1.3mm palladium stub nib, Herbin Violette Pensée.

CP8 Vannerie, italic broad nib, Herbin Terre de Feu. This one is almost out of ink and will require a refill tonight after I get home. Possibly some sort of blue. If not blue, Sheaffer Skrip Red.

Nakaya Piccolo Ishi-me Kanshitsu, broad Mottishaw cursive italic nib, Herbin Rose Cyclamen.

Keeping with my temporary motto of one-pen-at-a-time, today it's a Stypen Creeks with some Pelikan cart that writes like Noodler's Nav Turq but without the long dry time.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

All week I have been heavily using my Cross Affinity, black with fine point. It has moved ahead of many other more expensive models to the top of my favorite list. It writes cleanly and smoothly, quite wet for a fine point. Stiff steel nib as I like it but not at all scratchy. It is not an eye catcher, just a plain black and silver model, still a sober and classy look, IMHO. After a week of heavy use it remains glossy and clean, no scratches or dullness but you can't tell about the quality of plastic finish until the pen is used longer. Still it seems to be high quality material.

I am really enjoying this pen, and expect to do so into the new year. Happy New Year to all!

I am ending the year with a couple of Conway Stewarts (vintage 58 Purple Hatch with purple CS ink & modern Duro autumn fleck with Diamine Royal Blue) to get me through an accreditation self study report that is due next week. While the work isn't too enjoyable today, the CSs pairing make the writing more interesting.

Today is my Waterman Blue Caviar day! I am using my Waterman Blue Caviar fountain pen with extra broad nib with Florida Blue ink, my Waterman Blue Caviar rollerball (fountain pen converted to rollerball with a Rhapsody rollerball end section) with a blue bold point Pilot G2 gel ink rollerball refill, and my Waterman Blue Caviar ballpoint pen with a broad blue Waterman ballpoint refill. I have been writing lots of letters today and enjoying my Waterman Blue Caviar set! :cloud9: Yummy! Thus, making today a Waterman Blue Caviar day! LOL!

Happy New Year to everyone!! !:clap1:

The Pilot Custom Maple Craft pen I acquired earlier this evening. It has a lovely #10 fine nib, and is a delight to use.

Visconti Knights Templar

Montegrappa Queen of Hearts

Both with Waterman blue, because that's what the shop owner filled them with.

I bought both pens during the Christmas Holiday in Maastricht at Mevri's. They are currently having a closing down sale until appr. febr. 15th, because both couples (two brothers and their spouses) who own the shop are retiring.

To me this is a great loss, because ms. A. Schiffeleers has been the queen of pen sellers and each visit to her shop has been a special occasion. She knows the historical background of and the materials used in every pen in the shop. There where hidden treasures in secret drawers behind the counter, out of the depths of which on one occasion for instance she unearthed a Stipula Harpax.

She allways inks and lets you try each pen you might be interested in, because pens are for writing, she maintains. No Mint, NIB, after you've bought a pen there, because there will be no seals, and each pen is inked. Delightful, for there is no reason for not using the pen.

Maastricht is a smart city and ms. Schiffeleers is a sophisticated person, but a sophisticated person with inksmears on her fingers most of the time.

An era will come to an end. Therefore: here are two pictures of ms. Schiffeleers. In the first she's seen arranging the pens she's selected for my inspection and in the second she's handing over the Visconti to me. My brother Mark took these pictures as a memento of many pleasurable hours of talking pens and trying them.
