What Pens Are You Using Today?

"Dorothy," a 1945-ish emerald green pearl laminate Parker Vacumatic, and "Betsy," a carmine striated oversized Sheaffer's Lifetime Balance, both currently loaded with Noodler's Black. I won't use that again in Betsy, 'cause she's way too wet, see? :-)

Dorothy, on the other hand, really likes Noodler's.

Sheaffer Snorkel Statesman in black with PR DC Supershow blue ink. The pen was a 13 dollar e-bay find that just needed a good cleaning and to feel wanted. The more I write with it, the better it writes.

I actually wrote with all 22 of my pens today (some for no more than just a single line to keep the ink flowing), but the ones predominantly used--all with fine nibs--were:

* 1927 lapis Parker Duofold Jr. filled with Namiki Blue

* 1926 cardinal red Parker Duofold Jr. filled with Hero Blue

* Pelikan 800 filled with Visconti Blue

* old style red marbled Waterman Phileas filled with Noodler's Red

As usual, today I did the crosswords in the paper at work with my Wing Sung 230 (Noodler's Black), with my Huashilai 2375 (PR Velvet Black cartridge) in reserve; tonight, I'll be using my Esterbrook J (mint green celluloid, 2556 nib with a nice foot exactly matching my writing angle, PR Ebony Green) for my journal writing -- currently conducting a write-out test on this pen, which has gone dry on me at inopportune moments a couple times recently (suspected inattention while filling, but I'm checking to be sure). I'll probably also write a page of nothing in particular with one of my other pens, but I'm not sure which yet.

Testing, testing... I checked that all the pens on my desk at worked were present and correct - including a pair of Pelikan 140s and a small herd (5) of Esterbrooks. All happy with there various inks. Only a Lamy 2000 (F) travels home each night. The other pens aren't afraid of the dark (or the cleaners).

In most healthcare settings, you are required to use black. So, that's what I ususally have.

Thanks

Today I am using my Safari, Raspberry, fine nib, Waterman Encre Noire, at the hospital.

Sorry if off topic, but it is a response to the quoted recent post:

What will the Electronic Medical Record do to fountain pen use in hospitals? I love and hate the thought.

I probably should make this a new thread.

Today, as always, I carried my Wing Sung 230 (with Noodler's Black) and my Huashilai 2375 (with PR Velvet Black cartridge). I use the Wing Sung for the newspaper crosswords, and today's crosswords were especially challenging -- the paper was wet, because it was raining! Even on wet newsprint, though, the Noodler's Black (and the Wing Sung) did the job well, with no bleed through, no punch through, and no feathering. I was very impressed!
