What Pens Are You Using Today?

At home I'm still playing with the Platignum Silverline with the Italic nib. For journal writing I've been using a Mabie Todd Swan. At work I switch between a small Sheaffer Balance with a no. 3 nib, and the recently restored Esterbrook SJ with a firm, fine nib.

Vintage Parker true blue Duofold

I'd rather spend my money on pens instead of shoes and handbags.

I just completed my first ever attempt to do a sac replacement on a lever-fill Delta Adolph Sax Special Limited Edition (vermeil sleeve and furniture). It has a medium nib that yields a medium-fine line (unusual for a Delta medium) that is perfect for me. It is FILLED with Noodlers Midnight Blue. The original sac was only filled once. The second filling caused the original sac to break at the barrel end (as opposed to the nib end). I am crossing my fingers that my fix holds. I did it by the book with a sac and shellac from Pendemonium. I waited 24 hours (the hardest part) before inking it.

A 60s Rolltip, which I think is an Italian (?) version of a Sheaffer Cartridge pen with MB Violet

Oddly for me, only one pen today: blue stripe Pelikan 800 with fine nib, filled with Visconti Blue.

Actually, it was the only pen I used yesterday too, even though I carried in my shirt pocket a 1931 burgundy Parker Duofold Jr. filled with a homebrew burgundy. Someone else used the Parker, but not me.

Interesting story on this one. During the afternoon run-through for last night's baccalaureate service, one of the seniors seated near me who had a speaking part asked if I had a pen. All I had with me was the Duofold Jr., so I asked if she minded using a fountain pen. She did not hesitate, like some do at such a question, wrote her note with it, and handed it back to me.

When I was showing the same Parker pen to a friend last weekend, and he heard it was from 1931 the color drained from his face as he gingerly handed it back to me like a man who has never held a baby before and is afraid of breaking it!

Sheaffer Prelude fine nib. It's my go-to pen, although I really like the way the Balance pen writes a bit better. Don't know why I don't use it more often.

Conway Stewart Knightsbridge. I've discovered that Montblanc Bordeaux allows it to write at least a medium alone even though it's a fine. Still going to see about having the flow adjusted.

Tonight I inked a Caran d'Ache Varius Carbon Fiber with medium nib and J. Herbin Bleu Pervenche.

It joins the Parker Duofold Centennial in Jade with fine nib and Delta 14th L.A. pen show Animals green ink.

I also have a Pelikan Grand Place with fine nib and Noodlers Blue in rotation.

I've been all over the place with pens this weekend. A Townsend black Tango duo (RB & BP), an 18kt Century BP, stainless Lamy Tri-Pen, a Duke "Mini-Torpedo", a Filcao Tukano, and a Pentrace LE.

Today started with white & tortoise Pel 400, and is currently sitting with a burgundy Waterman Edison BP (a pen with a great deal of sentimental value to me).

I am drawing with a Monster Nib by JM Keuning.
I just used a Parker Vacumatic to reply to one pen pal and a Waterman #52 to reply to another pen pal.

Greetings, I have not one clue as to how to use this site but I am going to try. I am realizing now that I know less about FPN and how to use it today, than when I first discovered the site. I am going to attempt to review a pen I just acquired and I hope it goes out to somebody....here goes! I recently ordered from a pen shop website out of the country, a Pelikan Style Collection Fountain Pen. I have never seen this pen before....anywhere. It costs a total of $11.00 and writes like a Montblanc Meisterstuck. I've never seen anything quite like this pen. It is a gray soft rubbery material, with accents in hard plastic either in red, blue or black. It appears to be one of the most durable pens I've seen. It has a steel nib and comes only in a medium. Mine has a big red substancial clip and a window in the barrel to check the ink level. A Pelikan logo symbol adorns the top of the cap. The pen posts perfectly, the cap fitting on the heal of the barrel very snugly! I have a Pelikan ink cartridge in mine but I would assume it would accept a Pelikan ink converter. This pen, although it has quite a bit of gerth, fits well in the hand and lays a wet, buttery line, never hesitating or skipping. The nib is polished chrome and has a flat top as opposed to the normal rounded nib. The section grip has five slits in the rubber part, that assist in a good grip. The pen measures out 5 3/8 inch closed and 6 1/4 inch posted. The fountain pen does not have a opulent look but does not look cheap either. Just a nice sporty appearance. I do own and operate a small home- based pen sales shop but I have few Pelikans in my inventory but not many due to the expense of stocking them, so I am not working for Pelikan but for the price of $11.00, you can't beat this simple fountain pen! I would venture to say that if the pen is well cared for, it would last anyone a lifetime!

I want one!!!! Where, where??

Today if I'm lucky I'll get to use a new Sheaffer NN pen loaded with Sheaffer Blue-black, one of my fave inks for its weird gray/green undertones.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.
