I bought initailly a Pelikan M805, medium nib. Perfect size, perfect balance. Is more often used at home.

I'm using a Lamy 2000 at work. Fine Nib. It just is a litlle less intrusive. And if it get lost, it will be less of a pain.

Both are real wet writers.

Both inked with Eclat de Saphir from J. Herbin.

Everybody in the village knew it could not be done. Then came a stranger, and he just did it.

Today at home working on an essay:

- Sheaffer Imperial XF with MB Racing green for the notes - such a lovely pen for extensive writing.

- Duke pen (model unknown) with Noodlers Widowmaker Red for the notes in the text book margins. I got it yesterday and am trying it out. Overall impressed - very good value for the money - but the nib is a bit too stiff, but I'll give it some time.

journaling with my Sailor 1911 M in mandarin yellow using Noodler's Forest Green on Apica Journal paper, an excellent combination. Now, if I could think of something to write!

Using my brand new Pilot Cavalier, with a blue-black cartridge. I adore the pen, but cannot wait until I can find a converter so I can use better ink.

With my "new" 1930s Sheaffer Balance OS.

Great! which one is it? Color? Nib? Clip? Just curious :)

A Melbourne pen show find I guess?

Ciao,

It was indeed.

Sheaffer Balance, streamline oversize, early 1930s. Lever-filler with a medium nib (so said the sticker, but it writes like a fine). Hard to tell the colour, but I believe it's the one I wanted - Marbled marine green. Clip is a long one, which sits low on the cap, but which is above the cap-band by a few milimeters. Has "SheafferS" on it.

Sounds like a great find, congratulation. I love the oversize too. I agree also the Balances are always on the fine side of nibs...

Look at the useful Richard Binder's article to date exatley your pen by the combination of the color and the clip.

Cheers,

Andre

Today I first inked my new Omas Arte Italiana Paragon recently purchased on the blue board from one other member. I used Aurora Blue.

It is a vintage Omas from the 80s, then with in-house nib. The nib it's really gorgeous: two tone big broad tip.

Do I need to add that is butter-like? Great. I'm looking forward for using it at work.

Thanks Giuseppe!

To begin another work week:

Aurora Primavera w/18k medium nib and Montblanc blue ink

Tibaldi Modello 60 w/18k extra fine nib and Noodlers blue

Parker Orange Duofold Centenial (modern MK 1) w/18k medium nib and Noodlers blue

Parker Blue Marbled Duofold Centennial (flat bands) w/18k fine nib and a Penman ebony cartridge

Parker Sonnet Chinese lacquer (amber/gold) w/18k fine nib

Parker Duofold gold plate rollerball with medium blue refill

Parker Sonnet Chinese lacquer (amber/gold) rollerball with medium black refill

Waterman Exception Night & Day rollerball with Schmidt blue ceramic refill

I always carry a rollerball pen in case someone asks to borrow my pen. I always let them use the rollerball while I hold on to the cap. I do not post any caps nor do I want others to do so with my pens. I have purchased used pens that have a posting ring on the barrel. That is very annoying to me. To each his own.

I just repaired a Sheaffer Balance I bought at the Melbourne Pen Show (jet black standard-size one from 1935, I think), and I'm currently givng it a 'road-test'. Wonderfully smooth fine/medium nib. Nice and light and a pleasure to use.
