What Pens Are You Using Today?

I have been using a Montblanc 146 for the last few days.

Cost me $30 - due to a hairline running up from the base of the nib into the threads. Other than that there is nothing wrong with it - writes well, no leaks. However, the nib is a little broad for my liking so I will probably change shortly - perhaps to a s/steel Parker Vector which was providing good service when I last used it...

Today I am planning to use a Lamy Al-Star with CdA Amazon. I have to run it out of ink today so that I can trade the F nib for an EF.

Pens I use at home: Lamy 2000 for most of my journal writing and note taking from the books I read.

I also use my Lamy 2000 at work to write prescriptions, write drafts for lectures, and writing medical records.

This is my busiest pen nowadays.

I still carry my Rotring 700 in my bag just in case I need a back-up though I doubt that will happen as the 2000 carries a huge ink load.

During my free afternoons and weekends, I use my Lamy Vista as it is more rugged and its large clip allows me to put it in any pocket.

I'm probably inviting trouble when I asked someone to procure some Chinese FP's from Hong Kong. Those will likely upset my comfortable set up with my pens. :headsmack:

Odd thing that pen selection. Anyway todays weapon of choice is my Edson LE with Noodlers Baystate blue.

Today's pen is a Stipula Novecento Rex with a fine nib. I've inked it with one of Pilot's iroshizuku inks, tsuki-yo.

Nice choice, southpaw!

I'm using my Laban snake pen this evening. Well, early morning, but it's still evening if you know what I mean.

I'm taking a lot of notes at a conference this weekend. Used a whole converter in my Monte Verde Black Tie yesterday, so I refilled that and will also use a Parker 51 for today's session. Both with Florida Blue.

I have a number of pens on the go for different purposes.

My daily writers are four P51s - a '45 buckskin vac and '46 cedar blue vac (both medium nibs inked with Quink washable blue), a '46 black vac (fine nib inked with combo black Skrip and Quink washable blue) and a '51 burgundy aero-metric (medium nib, same ink as last).

My signature pen is a new redish brown Sailor King of Pens with a medium Naginata Togi nib inked with Skrip black ink. Very broad and wet line but perfect for signing letters.

My current vintage pens are a Parker Major vac 1941 medium nib and a 1939 (?) striped vac Duofold fine nib, both inked with Quink washable blue.

My three pack of new Sailors are a Green ribbed 1911 with a medium Naginata Togi nib inked with Private Reserve black cherry, a black 1911 with music nib and a Maki-e Resin Owl Supreme fine nib, each inked with Private Reserve Lake Placid blue.

My jacket pen is a new green Nakimi VP inked with the combo Skrip Quink.

So, just inked my newly arrived Aurora Optima Burgundy with a broad nib. I choose a Visconti black (to be honest it was one of the only two bottle I had with me in these days where I moved by the sea).

I'll see how it works!

Cheers,

It is with pleasure I report (does anyone actually read this thread?) that, today, I am using a mottled red hard rubber Conway Stewart 479M which has been raised from the dead.

A 99p 'win' from the dreaded ebay, the feed was broken, a large chunk had been lost from the cap and the clip was missing.

After all the usual cleaning and polishing I reground the remainder of the feed to roughly the right shape (had to shape a blob of araldite to the end of the ink channel to stop it off), fitted a sac and away we go! The missing piece from the cap doesn't reach as far as the thread so no problems there, I'm used to clipless pens and so I am now setting about wearing the nib in (smooth but a little noisy on the paper).

Its filled with Herbin Indian Orange which suits its orangey colour. The rippled pattern and colour are particularly attractive on this pen, it is a joy to behold, and the surface is still smooth and shiny. Shame about the damaged cap but it still looks rather dignified on my desk at work.
