What Pens Are You Using Today?

A black Platignum that looks for all the world like a 149 but without the white blob. This was old stock in a very old stationers and cost £15, last one in the shop. It came with a very useful wooden cradle to stop the pen rolling off the desk.

A fine nib and a good buy.

I'm using my 3rd-tier English-made Platignum m/nib out for a spin today. This is the latest pen that I've restored and I want to see how well it handles out on the road. See how well it turns and corners and what kind of fuel-efficiency it has.

While the pen is undoubtably a very cheap one, I'd still like to play around with it. It has a button-filler that was quite easy to repair and I smoothed off the nib so that it writes nicer. I think I did a good job.

My two cents to this tread:

Sailor 1911 with 21Kt Naginata Togi M nib with Private Reserve Midnight Blues. Wonderful, wet, outstanding nib. :puddle: I love this pen by nib Master Nobuyoshi Nagahara. :clap1:

Pilot Custom 823 Clear Amber 14Kt M nib and PR Chocolat. Nice dependable writer. :)

Pelikan Souveran M605 F nib with Midnight Blues. Outstanding unfailing writing instrument. :P

Platinum 3776 with 14Kt Music nib. Received new today. Inked with Noodler's Air-Corp. Very interesting wet nib and line variation. So far so good... :hmm1:

Today it is the OMAS Bologna filled with Montblanc blue-black. Not real crazy about the flow of the ink. I am going to look for something a little better. This pen can't be that dry a writer.

I'm using my purple Montegrappa Micra with PR Orange Crush.

That combo sounds stunning!!

It is quite nice. Thanks. Although I was looking for a good purple that came in a small cartridge. I like PR Tanzinite but it doesn't flow through the pen as well as the Orange Crush.

Lamy Vista F, with a black Lamy cart.

Pel M205 demo, Binder 0.6 stub, PR DC Supershow Blue.

Word to the wise: if you don't make sure that the nib unit on your Pelikan is screwed in right, you're going to get inky fingers.

If the pen is a demo, you're going to see a very attractive blue blobbing in the inner cap.

Pilot Custom 845 with Waterman Florida Blue.

I use a fountain pen because one ought, every day at least, to hear a little song, read a good poem, see a fine picture, and, if it were possible, to write a few reasonable words with a fountain pen.

Today, a Lamy 2000 with XF nib, filled with Aurora Black, and a Parker 61. I'm trying not to ink more pens because I have a couple on the way.

Burgundy Parker 51!

I haven't used one of these since January, and had forgotten how they feel on the page. The "51" truly is a marvel of our time, an ultimately elegant writing instrument. It starts cleanly, writes smoothly, never skips or blots, encourages good handwriting habits such as low pressure and a loose grip, and can remain uncapped for many minutes and not dry out. For a workaday writer, they just don't get any better than this - no bling, all function.
