What Pens Are You Using Today?

I received my Danitrio Tamenuri Mikado from Kevin a few days ago and I haven't wanted to write with anything else since. The pen, as many of you know, is enormous and yet it is light and shaped so that it fits into my fairly small hand beautifully. The nib is a "soft" fine. I've filled it with Noodlers Red Black (which approximates the color of the pen). I am an over the top left hander and the ink flow is such that I find no problem with smudging even using some pretty slick Clairefontaine paper.

I chose the clipless version since the pen really is too big to fit comfortably in a shirt pocket. The only marking on the pen (other than on the two-tone 18k gold nib) is the signature in Kongi of the artist in gold color on the section.

Maybe in time I'll tire of using it, but I wouldn't bet that way.

Now the question is what to do with the other 200 pens in my collection.

Since this is my first post, I'm not sure the image will show up. If it does, you should note that it is Kevin Cheng's, not mine.

I have been trying to buy a Danitrio. No luck so far. Could you tell me how to get in touch with Kevin? I will appreciate it. Vervavolant

I've been using a Sheaffer Jr flattop, firm Lifetime nib with black Quink.

I'm using my Pelikan Grande Place with a Binder xxf/xxxf with full flex. Inked it up with PR Lake Placid Blue and I'm loving it.

Today is a Shaeffer that I found in my desk over the week end, it looks around 30 years old, I dont know the model, all stanless apart from the nib holder, looking very similar to Jonhros, nice nib and works well, just not very keen on silver finish metal pens! Filled with my own mix of Mont Blanc Brown Seasons Greeetings and my own blue black, resyltant colour is a very nice rich dark drown.

Anyone know the model of the Shaeffer?

Do you have a photo? If it's similar to my PFM III, but with silver trim, it could be a PFM I. On the other hand, it might be (and more likely is) a Sheaffer Imperial. Is it a snorkel filler or a touchdown filler?

At work - Parker 51 and Esterbrook J, 9555 nib. About halfway through the day my Estie failed on me, perhaps due to a bent nib or fiber buildup between the nib tines. I cleaned and gently adjusted after I got home, and it's again working fine. The Parker 51's always work, no thrill in that, eh?

Hey Dean,

Did you have Richard modify your 600 two tone nib or did you get one of his 200/250 nibs?

Conway Stewart 214/500 (whatever that means?) with a fine point that seems to write medium. Using my standrd Waterman Blue/Black. The pen's job today is to sign and personalize 600 letters. This writes with enough ink to be dark, but not so much that I need my blotter. Nice pen. I thought about selling it, but over the past few days, I changed my mind.

Over the past few years, my hospital has slowly been moving over to computerized documentation. The irony of that development is that I it is giving me more opportunities to use my fountain pens, as I am forced to spend so much of my day writing on triplicate forms. My wrists are much happier now that I don't have to push down so hard on the papers that I am writing on. So today's pens are my usual "less-expensive-but-still-nice" FPs:

-All-black Waterman Phileas, filled with Waterman Black

-Black/Silver Lamy Safari with a nice left-oblique italic nib, filled with some unknown blue ink. (Lamy Blue?)

A couple of nice writers to get me through the day. :)

Just had to mention that I was using my Lamy Al-Star, EF, Gulf Stream Blue today. Noteworthy for me because I used it both at work for journal -- pretty much everything today. I've been using pens with Binder cursive italics for months and haven't used a regular roundy nib in ... months. But I rediscovered that the Al-Star is a wonderful writer.

Wood-shaft dip-pen w/fine nib.

I've discovered that ever since I bought that inkwell, the pen-shaft and all those spare nibs and filled up my grandmother's old pen-rest and set the whole thing up on my desk...

...I've been writing with absolutely nothing but that dip-pen. All my at-desk, at-home writing is done with it, and my fountain pens sit forgotten in their case...

...should I be worried!?

M.B. 144 solitaire in barleycorn finish with a Waterman Florida blue cartridge fitted. This little pen is one of my more pleasing MontBlanc purchases.
