Need information about Duofold striped series

I was talking to another pen collector a week or so ago about the series of striped Duofolds. I have a collection of what I thought was a complete collection of the three (Blue, Maroon and Green) Senior (I believe Senior because of the Blue Diamond on their clips - you can just see them in the scan) striped duofolds , as in the picture.

Now, I come to find out that there was apparently a black one - I don't consider Black as striped but that is what the references in Richard Binder's site and the Duofold book say (although Black was not apparently available in all models). The references never show a photo of the entire pen, just a "slice" of the barrel.

Now the completist in me has taken control and I want to figure out if there ever was a Black Senior striped Duofold. Any pics would be great.

Can anyone help me out? Thank you for taking your time to read this.

When originally offered, the striped Duofold was offered in four tiers, a low price point button filler (blac blind cap) followed by three progressively expensive lines of vac-fill pens. Each trim style representing the four tiers was offered in two sizes at the same price point, so each price point had a larger and smaller pen. The size of the small pen is about the same for all four tiers. For the larger pen however, the blue-diamond line saw a bigger pen than did all other lines. The large Blue Diamond line is Senior, as per your pics above.

Black was offered in the button fill line and in the entry level vac-fill line one tier above the button fillers. Thus black is found in button fill and with double-cap-band vac fill, which in larger size is variably named Duofold Junior and Sacless Duofold, and in smaller size called Sub-Deb and (iirc) Lady Sacless in different adverts.

Black was not offered in middle line vac-fill (Major and Debutante) or in high line vac-fill (Senior and Ingenue).

However... one can find a blue diamond black pen- the rather scarce high line desk pen was made in black.

You should consider black as striped (at least sometimes) as the pen featured transparent stripes, just as did the other colors, with the caveat that first year black featured shadow-wave transparency.

David, thanks for sharing your knowledge. I could not find information on the black pens other than as I noted, so you have saved me a large amount of time and frustration as well as solving my problem. My set is, in fact, complete!
