MM02 is on its way to Andy in "Sandy Ego"! :D

-Hana

P.S. The journal fit snugly in my Crane's envelope.

Should I scan the envelope it came in? And where are we keeping all the images of MM02?

(1) I was going to scan MM02 when it came back to me (the scanner was broken at work when I mailed it out to you), and Jose has confessed to me that he can help with the webhosting of the scans, so we'll cross that bridge when the journal makes a round-trip.

(2) I am going to mail MM01 out very soon.

(3) I still need two more people that don't live in the US: I want to have an international journal, for time/postage consideration of the US participants.

(EDIT: I need one more person for the international journal. It might be a bit bigger than the mini-size, but Corien has requested making it under 8 oz. I will likely mail it book-rate, which seems a very good deal in my country, but is it too slow? I have no experience with international post. I will try binding the journal later in the week. We could also consider doing the international homemade journal the way SONIAJOURNAL is going -- not a loop but a train, which means unlimited participants until it's full. But loops are nice, right?)

Should I scan the envelope it came in?

-Hana

It's not necessary, but it's a nice touch to scan the envelope. If it's a MM journal you can PM me for my email address (or it should be on the enclosed instructions) and email me a scan. I would assume that Jose would be delighted to have a scan of the envelopes from the ANES journals mailed to him (so PM him, of course, for his email), and I don't know if Sonia is planning to have SONIAJOURNAL scanned and put online.

CONSIDERATION: if you don't want your address put online then say so. Actually, the policy will be that I will only post an image containing an address if you approve it. The images are only going up on a password-protected site, however.

(MM01 was sent to Karl (yoyology) this mornin').

MM02 received today in San Diego from Hanna.

OMG, it is incredible. The journal itself is handsome, the paper feels rich, and the content is interesting.

But...

Seven pages of Hanna's handwriting! I'm blown away! It is just incredible. I'm actually a bit timid about putting my own chicken-scratch on an adjacent page. It's like Beauty and the Beast!

I usually do my traveling journal at work but I brought this one home to show my wife, inky pinky, occaisionally on FPN. She does calligraphy and she was quite impressed. My teenage son just about didn't beleive it was done by hand! When I told him Hanna was only a few years older than he was he was in a state of shock.

Reccomendation to everyone on FPN. Send Hanna a snail and hope she replies. Frame what she sends.

The envelope was lettered beautifully and was sealed with a wax seal that arrived intact. I slit the envelope open from the top so I wouldn't break the seal!

Even though I'd rather keep it for myself I'll get something written this week and mail it off to Mike in Lubbock. Boy, are you in for a treat (and it won't be from what and how I write).

I saw the samples on FPN but it is even more overwhelming in person. Tiny writing. Absolute precision. Lovely forms. Tasteful ornaments.

Here's hoping Hanna goes to the LA Penshow so I can thank her in person!

Andy

PS: She also did a pencil drawing of a young Marie Antionette from a portrait. Lovely!

 My face must be steaming right now. How generous you are with your compliments, Andy!

The wax didn't break, 'cause it's faux-wax. I use just a little bit, so it's hard to tell that it's "fake". lol Could you tell that it's handcarved? I tried to polish it up a bit with Richard Binder's nib grinding kit, but phew! it takes a LONG time to make progress, even on soap stone.

I don't even know if the Marie I drew has the right hair for her time period. Oh well, I'll just say she had her hair down. I sent Polyhistor, my snail buddy, a drawing of exhausted older Marie in her cell. I forgot to mention why I drew Marie in the journal-- I had a dream about her execution.

Hana's writing is a real treat. I'm very glad we have her on FPN. :)

Don't steam, don't be embarrased. Be very proud. It is lovely work.

At least I get to keep the envelope!

ANES013 went in the mail today to Kendall, (a few days past my promise, but I ran out of stamps and finally had a moment to visit the PO), along with a surprise "attachment".

I couldn't sleep, so I was surfing through various topics here and stumbled across this one. Wow! The traveling journals are working. And it seems I didn't join. I would like to join this project if it isn't too late, but I do not know who to contact.
