I wrestled with putting a picture of my desk on FPN, for my desk is a combination of the kitchen table and an extended counter top. The item you see behind my books is my bread machine/oven/toaster. :) However, this is where I do all of my studies and writing biblical study materials. At the end of the day, that small space is where I squeeze in a meal. I keep some pens handy in a specimen rack and always a bottle of ink at hand.

Just an hour or so ago I was moved to a new area. While my new office is in a hallway near the toilet it is bright, airy, and has more space. There is also more of a cool breeze.

What an amazingly clean desk. My desk isn't that clean even after I move it.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I should have taken a photo right after I cleaned mine...it's starting to pile up again, lol.

 it works so well when i keep it clean!! Amazing how that works.

So, what's your point?

(Mine is a flexible F.)

I agree - a wonderful setup! I'm inspired to go clean up my desk now. :)

Is that a plain leather blotter that you're using?

It is some inexpensive faux leather thing from Aldi, I think. I am too frugal for a pricey one and wouldn´t want it to get cuts. It gets exchanged every other year.

Santa's in treatment for a small "cookies and milk" situation. The repair conga line has stopped. I hope no good little boys or girls pens are in the line,

Mine needs to be seriously decluttered. As is it can't be used. I am posting from my laptop and a Levenger Lapdesk in the bedroom. Have a desktop in a different basement room, that has some space available, but the desk takes up so much. Big metal HON with return and a matching credenza Plus a stand for my printer. Fills the room up..... Getting that desk out of there will be a nightmare. (will have to take it apart probably)

Oslowe, my TWO roll tops are both more cluttery.

  • 1 month later...

I've been busy this winter remodeling my home office.

Here's my old desk. Served me well for about 30 years.

And here's the new built-in desk that I made.

Here's my little table for working on pens.

And of course every desk needs a desk pen or two, or maybe 34 :)

I used a pen tray from GO PENS in one of the center drawers.

Thanks for looking.

Uh oh, rather frightening picture in my mind, not that I have ever seen the inside of a goat's stomach!

People have some lovely places to write, don't they? Quite inspirational, so I was inspired to finally make use of an antique secretary that I have had for about 5 years or so, and also decided to add my small bit to this thread.

I cleaned off the desk top and cleaned and polished the wood; it has a nice warm glow to it now that the dust has been removed. This secretary desk belonged to a long ago ancestor of mine; the gentleman that originally owned the desk lived from 1751-1832 in New Jersey, according to my father's family history. The desk was probably made in either New Jersey or Pennsylvania (just guessing here.)

I inherited the secretary after my parents died and until earlier this year it has been used for "overflow" for the most part. The drawers are full of audio cables and computer parts and cables, audio paraphernalia, etc.; someday I will get them cleaned out and store my paper, etc., in them instead. In late January I did some major reorganization in my computer room and realized that I had been wasting this "resource" since I brought it into my home. I will now be doing most of my writing - such as it is :P - at this desk.

Anyway, here is a photo of my computer desk and set up; I work from home so spend at least 40 hours a week at this desk:

Here are some photos of my secretary desk; it is also located in my computer room along the opposite wall from where my computer sits. The room is so small that I can not back up far enough to get a picture of the whole thing, lol, and my photography skills are lacking, but hopefully you can get an idea of what it looks like.

Here is the top cabinet that sits on top of the desk/chest of drawers part:

I have repurposed almost two of the 4 shelves in the above for my ink bottle and sample storage; still needs some reorganizing but it works better than the old medicine cabinet that I was using:

Desk top down and ready for me to become inspired to write a letter or journal entry or.....:

Thank you, Miss Chief and da vinci.

I can't believe that I took so long to actually start making 'proper' use of it; it is pleasure to look at and a pleasure to write on!

I tried to take a picture but Baby (the live scarlet macaw) was involved in an altercation with one of the cats and would not pose pretty!

Thanks. I don't really have a before picture. But here's one just after setting the lower cabinets in.
