This thread is just so silly I had to add my own! Actually, this desk has been in my wife's family for many years, and I was just complaining to her that I need a nice writing desk, so she gave it to me! What's funny about it too is that if you look back to the early days of this thread, back in Jan. 2007, someone posted a picture of the same exact desk! What are the odds of that?

A very small corner of my personal work space... at this time of the year, the sun is low enough to light up my work room. Thought I'd catch the moment when it lights up my writing instruments. The earth spins so fast around itself, shadows move quickly...

Le Petit Robert and Le Grevisse. You know what is needed to write French well, don't you? :-)

Freaky, huh? So that makes three of them. I've never seen another like it, but maybe back in its day it was the Pottery Barn of desks! I love it, little drawers and all!

I wanted a desk that I could move were I wanted it and this is what I came up with. The desk unit is a WWII portable officer's desk while the base was discarded from a business.

The paper drawer on the top was converted to a pen drawer. The drawer with the ring pull has three trays, one of which has two ink bottles in it.

The next step in it's evolution is to build drawers for the open space in the middle, I think a radio was there originally, and build in led lighting under the pen drawer to light the desk top.

I'm jealous! That is a nice setup you have there!

Michael and Meghan,

Where did you get your desks? I really like them. I also like the matching cabinet I see in Michael's photo.

Thanks you! Well, I got mine at IKEA  ...and it was less expensive than the desk lamp on it...

There is a complete bedroom series of matching furniture pieces called "Edland" of which we are getting some for the actual bedroom as well.

Actually the desk is meant to be a dressing table :roflmho: ... and Meghan cares about it being to girly :bunny01:

Seems you got the same IKEA furnitures in the US as we do in the EU.

Cheers

Ha! I never would have guessed it was a dressing table. It makes a great desk and I do love IKEA.

Michael R.,

Very cozy desk. I love the bonsai. I bought one last year, and was told it would live to be thousands of years old. Mine died in two weeks. :crybaby:

Nice workspace Penquinmaster! I've always liked the U configured desk. I had a similar set-up when I worked for a structural engineer and it worked very well. I'm envious of your monitors!
