Inky, the buildings are exact replicas of three structures in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia (my favorite place). They are left to right:

Gault Apothecary(pharmacy), George Wythe home, Christiana Campbell's Tavern(G.Washington's favorite). The tavern is still in

operation and serves delicious 18th century style food with atmosphere to boot.

Here is a picture of my cleaned off desk. It serves as a writing area, as well as computer station. My pens are within arms reach

in their pen rack. post-41926-0-53259000-1294287269.jpg

All of you people with clean desks are sick and twisted! I'd show you a picture of my desk, but you can't see it under all the clutter and candy wrappers. :P

I'm working on digging up a dark brown leather desk blotter with the classical green blotting paper, there must be one somewhere! :ltcapd:

I just recently set up my office/study, so everthing's still a work-in-progress. I plan to hang some cool old skeleton keys from some silk ribbon underneath my shelf for decoration once I can find enough keys!

Pens on the shelf are Lamy Safari, MB Greta Garbo, Parker Urban and Pilot Prera.

Books are Everyman's Library New York Stories; a box of Postcards from Penguin; Kate Spade Manners, Occasions, and Style; The Little Black Book of Rome; and my Moleskine City Books for New York, Paris, and London; all sitting atop a guide to Puccini's Madama Butterfly. Girly overload? :P

Are those model rockets that you fly in the background? An old hobby of mine. Used to shoot them off with my boys 25 to 30 years ago! Oh, nice desk!

I should paint some rooms to many white walls around here, but I'm lazy so never mind.

IronSoul, just wondering if those speakers blew the seat across the room?

;)

Meghan, it's not too girly.. love the drop handles on the desk !

I always see the entire scene.. do you mind a suggestion? which may or may not work for you.

it is morning-take no responsibility for quirky ideas before 8AM.

How about a piece of ceramic art pottery to contain the electric cords on the floor?

yes :ninja::D x-line 5.1

I bought them for a large 26 square meter room with a ceiling of 4 meters. Now I live in 26 square meter one-room flat with a 2.5 m high ceiling: D

I should paint some rooms to many white walls around here, but I'm lazy so never mind.

The paint is a Behr color called Silverberry. It's a dusky lavender with what feels like touches of gray in it (hence the gray furniture). The room doubles as a spare bedroom for the occasional overnight guest or bout of insomnia. The rest of the house is decorated in a sort of Tuscan contemporary and all very grown-up and neutral. I wanted a fun, feminine room, and have ordered a set of vintage Geo Ham Coupes de Paris and Coupe Olazur prints matted in gray and framed in white. It will be the perfect girly-motorsports-chic haha. I can't wait for them to arrive!

I was thinking about that! After I saw the photo I was embarrassed that the cords look so chaotic, but I never see it while sitting here haha.

I may mount the power strip higher up the wall so as to hide it from view, then use some 3M hooks to keep the cables from dangling. If I put a pretty piece of pottery under there, I'd be afraid I'd kick it every time I moved lol.

You may need to consider increasing the depth (short dimension of the desk surface rectangle) - and increasing that dimension by a lot - like doubling it.

By the time you position your keyboard in front of the computer screen, the only room on the desk is to either side. And it really does not look like there is enough surface area on the desktop for your keyboard plus a couple of open books plus a pen and paper.

Additionally, as you approach 40 years of age, you will also find that you want your computer screen further away from your eyes, because your eyes will have trouble focusing up close for hours at a stretch. Increasing the depth of the desktop will fix that problem too.

Desk height is also important. Have you planned the height of your desktop so that when sitting in your desk chair, the keyboard resting on the desktop is a comfortable height? Most of us find we want our desks an inch or so lower (or our desk chairs an inch or so higher) than the desks of twenty years ago when keyboards were not a factor.

Where is the printer/fax/scanner? Because the printer is heavy, it really cannot go on a high shelf - that would make the shelving top-heavy. Is the low shelf wrapping around the radiator designed for that? I don't know what effect the high heat of a radiator would have on a printer cartridge.

If you can build a cardboard mockup of the desk height and desk surface area, you'll be able to judge whether you want the final product higher, lower, or bigger.

area on the desktop is 400mm - A4 fits

keyboard is on the shelf below the surface

yes i planned the height its 800mm and for keyboard its 667mm

i don't need printer and if i will need it it is near wifes pc

They are! But these haven't seen air time since I was a wee lad of 14 or so (about as long ago as yourself). It was a big hobby of mine at the time. Up until a few years ago I still had my "field box" with various doo-dads (the all-important Elmer's glue, igniters, launch controller, straws, spare 9v, etc.) and a custom-built stainless launch platform my dad made. I miss them, but not chasing them down so much. :P

Thanks! The desk is actually a semi-decent one from Ikea, probably because it was intended as business furniture. It wraps around quite a bit, though not what it was like when I first set it up in a cottage I rented. It was pretty much three desks, end-to-end! Thankfully it's quite configurable and it has stayed with me over the years:
